Plugging Away

That’s me. Just working on finishing various half done crafts around the place. I just ran around and took a few snaps to show you all in blogland what I’ve been up to lately.

Last week I broke my rule about no new projects aside from holiday gifts or Craft Hope until I finish all the partially finished projects. There was a good reason, though: I kept loosing pencils. So I took a paper towel roll, a page from a board book the girls had torn up (I always keep old board books that are not in good enough shape to pass on, they come in handy for crafts,) some scrapbook paper, and glue, and I created this little guy.

Rather nifty, isn’t he? And it really only took me the course of one program I was watching with the hubby.

Here we go, a project I had found in my closet. This dress was cut out who knows how long ago. It will fit me if I loose some weight before Pennsic (that Medieval vaca we go on every summer,) or else it will be a bit big on my mom, which is fine as it can be worn over another dress on a colder day.

I’ve started making my eyelets around jump rings. They look so much better that way, and stay a bit bigger. Here you can kind of see the jump ring is on the inside of the dress, and the eyelet is nice and pretty on the outside.

Oooo, and look: I fixed my dress form! Many moons ago the pole was lost. I recently came upon this pole that is the perfect size to hold Athena ~ that’s my dress form’s name. So I made a little stand for the pole and now Athena is nice and tall again!

The dress still needs a hem and the tie string. I am working on making the string now, and then I will mark and sew the hem. Here is the string in process.

Of course, there is also the Craft Hope pile! The project 11 blankets and plushies are done. I am finishing up the bags today, and tomorrow I have to run out to buy the last item for the safe birthing kits. Sunday the bags, blankets and plushies will get washed in baby safe detergent, then everything will be packed up and sent out on Tuesday or Wednesday ~ I’m pretty sure the Post Office is closed on Monday.

Kyla loves the plushies!

So does Vada!

Aren’t they precious? They are so good at helping mommy whenever they can, and they are so understanding when I tell them that we have to give all these lovelies to little babies who need them.

With such great girls, I just had to take them back to the fabric warehouse and get them some of that $3 a yard fleece for there own comfy~couch~blankets. Here’s the pile. As you see on top, I made an extra of each kind of elephant, so the girls can each have one. The butterflies are new PJ pants for me, under that is fabric for some lounging pants for me, then Kyla’s blanket and Vada’s blanket.

Here is a project I am finishing up for Pennsic. Camping soap! I have taken some of the various yummy soaps I have and knit around them with wool, then finished them off with a crocheted loop. This way the soap is enclosed in it’s own pretty little scrubby, and it doesn’t get slimy and gross. I’ll have to make something to hang these guys on by the shower.

Another almost~done project I recently un~buried. A few covered books and girdle books that just need the finishing touches. Gotta get on that.

If you heard a heartbroken cry echo around the world at the beginning of the month, it was me after dropping my French press in the sink and breaking it. I had to go to the grocery store that day, but they did not have any there, just coffee pots. Coffee pots tend to make the whole place smell like coffee, and they don’t get cleaned enough. I am the only one here who drinks coffee, so a little French press is perfect for me. I ended up buying coffee bags (like tea bags, but coffee,) at the store that day. They really are fine, but there is just something about freshly brewed French press coffee that makes me happy. I had a $20 credit at Overstock.com (my favorite place to shop!!!) So I took a look and bought myself this beautiful new toy! (sorry, I didn’t snap a photo, so here is a link on Amazon, as it is currently not on Overstock)

I love it so! And after the credit I had, I only paid $4!

Now what would a Jessie post be without an extra bit of twin cuteness. So here we have the girls after working together to build a wonderful castle.

What’s the best part about building a block castle?

Knocking it down!!!

I was so amazed and excited that I got that shot that I just had to zoom in on the action.

Have a great weekend, my friends. Happy crafting!

  1. Hey Jess, I loved that picture too! All of them of course but especially the last one. I can’t wait to use one of those soap things at Pennsic! You could put all the little almost nonusable pieces in the bags. I love you, Mom
P>S I’ve done a few entries in my blog, but I can’t figure out how to put your blog in as one I follwe.
