Just a quick post tonight. I know there is a running theme through this blog of me trying to find my way in my creative endeavors. I am always trying to balance what makes me happy, and what makes money. It is appropriate that on Star Wars Day, I have come up with an answer that makes me happy. I just followed MY force.

I keep putting what really makes me happy to the side and attempting other things in the hopes of rescuing us from this financial strain we have due to the lack of contract we are suffering. I have taken on contract crocheting and knitting, yet when you do the math, the time I put in is not worth the pay. I have invested time and money to sell at street fairs, yet the first of the three I signed up for did not pay enough to make it worth it (we’ll have to see about the other two.) The fact is, these things are not going to financially save us, they are just causing me stress and taking me away from what I enjoy, and what has been making money this whole time.

So I am going to finish those things I have committed to, and paid for, and then I will be back to love. I am going to focus back on my patterns and this blog. They make me happy. The patterns make me money, and the blog brings people to the patterns (and can make me money if I can get it “out there” a bit more.) And I enjoy both! What is the point of waiting? I know what I want to do, and I have an amazingly supportive husband who believes in me, so why not do what I want? Through all the other things I have been taking on, my patterns have still been selling. So there is no reason to try something else when what I enjoy also works!

So this is me, committing to doing what makes me happy. Now excuse me, time to knit.
