Before I go on with anything else, a little tease:

I HAVE A FREE CROCHET PATTERN FOR YOU!!! I just have to finish my sample. I will be another day or two. It’s pretty.

Today was (is for a few more minutes) Doug’s 40th birthday. It was quite the day.

Yesterday after dinner the girls and I decorated for Halloween. I yarn bombed the railing on our front steps. Kyla helped with moral support. She is very good at that. My loving little cheerleader!

Vada wasn’t feeling so hot yesterday after school. She must have caught a stomach bug. I kept her home from school today, and brought that sample I mentioned up from the basement so I could stay with her in the living room and still work.

She was like this for most of the day. That piece of bread was her breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Along with several glasses of water (about half of which stayed down.)

Doug only worked his first job today, so he was home at 2:45. Vada started to perk up a bit when he got home, and played with his Kindle for a while.

Then at about 3:30 she announced, “I’m all better, Mom!” She was very happy to be feeling alive again.

Kyla and Daddy had some quality time together.

Vada was insistent that she was feeling well enough that she and I could join Daddy and Kyla to go picket this evening. So at 6pm, we loaded into the car and drove over to the Board of Ed meeting.

Kyla was calling out “We want a contract!” When asked why, she said “So we can keep our new house, and so I can see my Daddy more. He has to work too much.” Awww…where are the reporters when you need them?

If you are wondering, yes, that sign below says 1, 2, 3, 4 years, still no contract. You can read more about this insanity here.

I know it is fuzzy, but I like this snap. I tried using the night setting on my camera, but it slows down the shutter speed, hence the fuzzy.

After this, Doug went to practice to take on all his friends in battle, and then they all went to a bar owned by another of his friends, who promised to keep the kitchen open late so they could all eat as well. I like his friends.

Nighty~night, my friends! Maybe send your thoughts, prayers, good vibes, whatever that Doug gets a belated birthday present of a contract. That would be nice…

    • Actually we are not on strike…yet. We are just picketing at BOE meetings. But the teachers are still going into work and teaching; even with the pay freeze and no contract.
