OK, we returned home on Friday, Mom flew back to Sicily Monday night, and we are still not totally unpacked, but it is time I start sharing the crazy with you!

Here are the girls in the days before we left. Kyla was getting some quality napping~on~Daddy time, and Vada built a castle to take on the trip out of some empty Baker’s Cotton spools. You’ll see why I have so many empty Baker’s Cotton spools as the trip posts continue.

On Tuesday, July 22nd, I packed up the car with my stuff for the Knit and Crochet show, the girl’s stuff for some quality time with Grammy and her family in Beverly, MA, and, of course, the girls. We drove up to my grandparents place in Beverly, MA where my mom had just arrived. I dropped off the girls and spent a little bit of time with my Grammy and Grampy, and then headed up to NH. Less than an hour later I arrived at the pretty red house in Kingsland, NH, that belongs to my Aunt Diane and her awesome husband, Greg. I tried to get a little work done while there, but the cat had other ideas. I spent the night, and in the morning I was off to the Manchester, NH Radisson for the Knit and Crochet show.

The very first familiar face I saw was Doris Chan. A big hug from the always adorable Doris (who was wearing a very cool TARDIS dress) is just about the perfect way to start a show! Of course, I was so thrilled to be there and seeing people, I forgot to get photos until I had been there for an hour or so. When I ran into Tammy Hildebrand I finally remembered to start getting photos!

I had a few classes on Wednesday afternoon. One was “Mastering Crochet the CGOA way,” a class to give tips and advice to those working on earning Crochet Master status in the CGOA. I have enrolled in the Masters program, and have had the packet for nearly a year now, but I have yet to start the 42 swatches that need to be sent in for evaluation. After taking this class, I am motivated to get going!!

This awesome class was taught by Jane Rimmer, Susan Lowman, and Linda Dean. If you are even thinking of attempting the Crochet Masters program, then take this class!! It sounds like the goal is to offer this class at each Knit and Crochet show.

Now there is no “endorsements” for any books from the CGOA for the Masters program, however, there was a bibliography of recommended books for this class, and they had all the books there on a table. So I took a photo for you. I am going to have to buy and review most (or all) of these books.

Now, during the class, Jane taught a little session on tips for weaving in ends. When she got to the bit about using a hook to weave in the ends when working thread crochet, it was very difficult for everyone to see what she was doing. So (with Jane’s permission) I stood behind her and took photos as she worked. They did not come out wonderfully, as my phone is not exactly the best at action shots, but I was able to find a few that are OK. I told the other ladies in the class I would post the photos here once I got home, so here they are. *I did receive permission from Jane Rimmer to post these photos on my blog. Thank you Jane!!

As always, there was a knit and crochet lounge for people to hang out and play together. Here is a snap of one of my trips to the lounge. The second lady from the left is Tamara Kelly, who I was so happy to finally meet in person. We have known each other online for quite some time, but this was our first time meeting in person. We ended up in nearly all the same classes (other than the classes we took on Wed afternoon, the rest of our schedule was identical) so we spent a lot of time together. She was just awesome! I miss her already. Check out her post about the show here.

I didn’t get many pictures during the day on Thursday, but I did remember to grab a snap of my awesome, fabulous, talented, beautiful mentor, Andee. Here we are just before the annual CGOA member meeting. (Can you tell I really like her? She has taught me so much, it would have taken me a lot longer to get where I am now, and where I am going, without such a wonderful mentor.)

The winners of the 2014 CGOA Design Competition were announced at the end of the meeting, and the meeting was followed by the marketplace preview. I will share more about that and the rest of the show with my next 3 weeks of crazy post. I will leave you with a picture of the cake made for the 20th anniversary.
