This sensational sun hat features a star on top to help keep the sun off the most vulnerable part of your little one’s head, and a mesh side to keep them cool. The wide brim provides shade to protect their face, and to keep them fashionable! Add on a decoration (like the That 70’s Flower) and the Be A Star Child’s Sun Hat is the perfect combination of form and function!

  1. Could you please tell me what tc means in row 24? Is it triple crochet? I am making this in solid white for my granddaughter. I will make hatbands with your flower so she can wear with many different outfits. This is a fabulous hat. Thank you for the pattern!

  2. I first saw this pattern while using the internet on my phone, I kept it saved for days until I could use my normal computer and add this to my favorites. I look forward to making it for my daughter next summer since she informed me that she is getting to old for her Disney princess sun hat (just turned 8).

  3. Would anyone have a suggestion on where to look for the brimlock or nylon hat wire? Or a good substitution that I could find at a craft store? I’d rather try to find something local, rather than order online. What have you other crocheters used for the brim edge?

  4. Can you tell me what kind of wire you use? I want to make a few of these for my girls this summer, living in Arizona the sun is a scorcher! Thanks

  5. What does the hat look like without the Brimlock? I am thinking of making it for my 4 yr old niece and I am not sure she would like the stiff brim. I just would like some feedback before I decide if this is the right pattern. Thank you SO much.

      • First of all, thank you for responding. I have figured it out. I was overlooking the brackets as what was to be repeated. Thanks for a great pattern.
