Stitch ‘N’ Pitch

Hello there! A few weekends ago I attended the 2015 Stitch ‘N’ Pitch at a NY Mets game. The Stitch ‘N’ Pitch is an event that happens at various pro baseball games around the country in association with TNNA (The National Needlearts Association). The Stitch ‘N’ Pitch that I attended was also sponsored by Lion Brand Yarn. They gave all the attendees a goodie bag with some yarn so that everyone could make some afghan squares for Warm Up America, a wonderful organization that makes and collects hand made blankets for those in need.

It was tons of fun! I went with Amy of Stitchin’ Mommy. We met there, as she lives in Queens, and I live in NJ. I miss living in Queens, it was so much easier to go play in Manhattan, and to go to fun events without having to drive and park.

Anyway, I drove to the game. The bus from here only runs every 2 hours on the weekend, and would require a transfer to the subway as well. By the time all the tickets are purchased, it is pretty much the same cost as tolls and parking, so I decided I would rather drive. Public transit is not as affordable or convenient coming from NJ. I got in at noon for a 1:10 game, and I still ended up parking pretty far away. I snapped a photo of where I was parked so I would be able to find Thor again after the game.

Once I got to the gate, I met up with Amy and we went in. As we arrived, we stumbled upon

Trick or Treat!! 2014

Well, the crazy holiday season is officially underway, and we have survived the first holiday. It was actually a great day. Halloween is Vada’s favorite holiday. She wears Halloween themed clothing year round.

The girls had a half day at school, then they went back at 2 for the optional costume parade. Doug’s mom came by just before they got out for the half day, so she picked them up with me, helped to get them in their costumes, and went to the parade with us. It was very nice to have her along.

Here are the girls as we left to go to the costume parade. Vada is Merida from Brave, and Kyla is Elsa from Frozen.

This little girl is a friend of theirs who is in first grade (yes, she is younger than them). She had on my favorite costume of the day!

Fall Cleaning 2014

Some people do spring cleaning. I am more of a fall cleaning kind of girl. Something about fall makes me want to get everything in order. Maybe it’s Doug and the girls all going back to school and me actually having an empty house so I can get more done. Plus, when I am alone I seem to notice the clutter more.

So…I have been trying to get the house in order, and find a routine that works. I am enjoying the TV/laptop free afternoons from when the girls get home until after dinner. I am able to go through the mail and school papers while they do homework, and still help them when they need it. I have been doing better about staying on top of the laundry, and the house is slowly getting more presentable.

I am also going through my computer files and cleaning up. I have lots of partial patterns to finish up. My friend Kim was recently saying how de~cluttering helps her mood, and I have to agree. I need to de~clutter!

Remember when I got some pretty new yarn from Lion Brand in the mail?

World Wide Artist Blog Hop

Last week, Kim Guzman invited me to join in on the World Wide Artist Blog Hop. I “met” Kim on line through a Crochet Bloggers and Designers Facebook group we are both in. She and I became fast friends, and we finally got to meet in person at the Knit and Crochet show this past July. Kim has become a dear friend, and someone I often look to for advice on not only crochet/design questions, but also on how to … Read more

Home and back to work

I will try to catch you up on the goings~on of the past couple weeks. I don’t remember when this was, but the girls were having a cute little tea party. I love Vada’s little pinky sticking up. I know I shared with you when the girls were going outside to make art. Here is the portrait of Kyla they made. When I went out to bring them lunch, Kyla was laying on the driveway and Vada was tracing her. … Read more

Make It Work

Long before a certain famous man that I am quite fond of made that phase his own, I used to say that my name was actually “Jessie Make It Work” or “Jessie Fix It.” Some things never change. Then again… Life is never what you expect. *for those of you wondering what the point of this post is: I am having one of those life moments when it is time to charge forward or pack it in, and of course … Read more
