This skirt can be long or short, and comes in sizes toddler to adult 5x – so there is something for everyone! Made with a basic ripple, it is really quite easy. The pattern is listed as intermediate because of the waistband, but just take it one stitch at a time and you will have no worries. Choose your favorite colors of Bernat Softee Baby to make this skirt your very own. The best part? It’s machine washable and dryable!!

After making the Skylark in Wonderland wrap, I couldn’t help but notice that it would seam together to make a really fun skirt. I even had a feeling the angle of it would work nicely for plus size figures as well. So I dove into my Lion Brand Heartland stash and gave it a go. The results are a skirt I’m sure to wear quite frequently this fall!!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend my friends!

When I trudged downstairs yesterday morning, this is what greeted me:

Kyla-making-a-car

Kyla had swiped a Coats box I was planning on sending some stuff to a friend in, and the tubes from some Baker’s Cotton that I had used recently. She was having too much fun for me to be upset. I was planning on giving the tubes to the girls for crafts anyway!

Vada-taking-a-car-break

Vada was taking a break on the couch, so Kyla showed me her creation as well. She had swiped the box from my new camcorder that I hadn’t gotten around to flattening out for recycling.

They were making race cars.

Would you like to see the first race?

As you can see, some repairs were required after the race. So more time was taken for improvements, then there was another race. Then more improvements, and another race. Then more…this went on all day. Seriously. From the time they got up in the morning until I made them move the boxes into the corner, clean up the craft supplies and go to bed. It was awesome!

Let-the-racing-begin

Somewhere in the middle of the day I took another race video.

Here are the finished racers:

Finished-Box-Cars

It was a crazy, fun, day!

I also have some snaps from the last week to share with you. After shoveling one day last week, Doug left me a note.

Doug-wrote-me-a-note

One morning a few days ago Kyla came downstairs in this skirt. It needed a little TLC. It took about an hour, but I painstakingly wove some quilting thread through the net to strengthen and repair the net. Kyla was very happy.

Fix-it-Mommy

Not that long ago I ordered some brimlock (the stuff that goes around the outer edge of a brimmed hat to hold it’s shape) and heat shrink joiners. A few days later they arrived with this wonderful quote! How many ways do I love Judith M after this experience?! They are quick, the prices are reasonable, and they have a great sense of humor!

Hats-are-in-my-future

I’ve never used the heat shrink joiners before, I always used the metal ones that you crimp. I thought I should give these a try because they will not show as much through the crochet, and I was worried the metal kind might snag the yarn. I’ll let you know what I think of it once I have used it.

So, crochet (and maybe knit) sun hats to come!! It may be a month or two, but there will be some sun hats!!

School was cancelled on Valentine’s Day, so the celebrations were rescheduled for this past Friday. The girls had fun signing all the cards for their friends!

Writing-Valentine's-Cards

Kyla wrote up a Valentine’s wish for Daddy. Yes, she wished for a contract for him (4 years with no contract and a pay freeze for Paterson teachers!)

Kyla's-Valentine-wish-for-Daddy

On the yarnie front, the Stitchopedia is just 2 weeks old and there are already 6 posts. Just imagine all the wonderful skills you will be learning as it grows!

Stitchopedia

On Monday of last week we went over to my photographer‘s house to get some pictures taken. At one point, there was a dance/music break.

Music-Time

It was far too much fun.

More-Music-Time

Would you like to know why we needed pictures? Well, I finally finished the Emma Skater Skirt crochet pattern!!

Emma-Crochet-Skater-Skirt-by-Jessie-At-Home

It actually went up for sale a few days ago. It is on sale for $5.00 for the rest of this month, and then it will go up to $6.00 on March first. If you “like” my Facebook page you will hear right away when new patterns are out, and there are also occasional coupon codes for my Ravelry store that I only post on my Facebook page.

You can find the Emma skirt on Ravelry, Craftsy, Etsy, and Crochetville. Even though all the photos are kids, this pattern does go from child small to adult 5x. It is worked top down (with my unique less~bulky crochet waistband) so it is easily made to the length you want!

Lots-of-Emma-Crochet-Skater-Skirts

Oh, and there were some snaps of the Katherine Coat as well. The testers are making good progress, I am still planning on releasing this pattern by  Easter. So start saving up for a large yarn purchase now!

Katherine-Coat-By-Jessie-At-Home

I also needed a photo of myself. My wonderful mentor, Andee Graves, told me I need to put my face on my business cards (and all my social media avatars/profile pictures.)

Jessie-Rayot-Jessie-At-Home

One more fun thing to tell you!! Remember the In Love With Color Throw I designed for Red Heart?

In-Love-With-Color-Throw-Red-Heart

Well, I checked with Red Heart, and they said it would be fine if I made video tutorial for each of the motifs to help you along as you create this colorful throw! So I will be recording away next week, with the goal of putting up a post with all the videos by the end of the week! I would LOVE to share some photos at the bottom of that post showing off the blankets YOU have created so far with this pattern. I know some of you have. I’ve seen them over on Facebook!! If you would like your In Love With Color Throw to be shown off at the bottom of the video tutorial post, then share your photo over on my Facebook page, and let me know you would like it in the Video Tutorial post on JessieAtHome. Be sure to include your Facebook page, Ravelry profile, blog, or crafty website that you would like the photo to link back to.

Good evening everyone. We had a very creative and fun couple of days over here At Home.

Need-to-create

The girls stashed an A.C. Moore bag in Doug’s office, and occasionally they run in there to grab something out of it. A few days ago Vada pulled out this Valentine’s Day monster. It always makes me smile when they randomly decide its craft time and just start getting creative.

pirate-sparkle

Of course Kyle loves to express her creativity with fashion! This sparkly little pirate number is what she wore to school on Friday. Not the patch. She added that when she got home; at which point she stomped around the living room shouting “Arrrgg!” My dainty little Princess.

Kyla-in-her-blue-phase

And here we have Kyle is blue period. Okay maybe it’s more turquoise. That’s sparkly thing on her hand is even a turquoise ring. She was very excited about her color coordination on Saturday.

YARN!!!!!!

Look! Yarn! Lots of yarn! Pretty yarn! I love my UPS guy!

picture-wall

Okay time for a little break from the pictures of the kids to share some yarnie stuff with you.

Well one more kid~kind~of~thing. Whenever I go downstairs to my little work room in the basement this is what I see on the side of the stairs. Every once in a while the girls bring me some other new items tape up there. Isn’t it sweet?

Organize-your-stash

OK, yarn, really.

In the next week or two, I plan on putting up a little tips post on how to keep track of all of your yarn stash. I never realized I did anything out~of~the~ordinary, until someone in one of my Facebook groups asked how to keep track of all of her yarn, and I shared this picture. It’s the same way I kept track of my fabric as a costume designer. So I always thought it was normal. Anyway, I’ll share the fun little system with you later.

I-will-finish-this

Right, this, really I do love this. I do! Don’t ask me how many times I’ve frogged it, I refused to answer. But I still love it! And I will finish it! Really! No seriously, I really will. Before the summer. Because I really want to wear it. And I am curious what it is going to turn into…

I-will-finish-this-too

The jeans~to~skirt project seems to also have been put to the side for a while. I have a few contract items I need to finish up this week. But I will get to this and the fan shawl soon. Oh, that reminds me, I have something else fun to share with you. I’ll save that for another post. Aren’t I a stinker?

wait-for-it

This. You are going to love this. There will be some videos. There will be a few free tutorials. And there will be one paid pattern. And you’re going to love them all! Hopefully the free tutorials will start in the next few days, though with all the snow days it’s sometimes hard to make a video. My children aren’t the quietest creatures in the world.

Groundhog-Day

Back to the kiddies. Sunday was not only Super Bowl Sunday, but it was also Groundhog Day. The girls were super excited about the little furry guy. There were puppet shows. Lots of puppet shows.

snow-day-nap

At 5 AM on Monday morning my phone rang. It was the automated snow day a call. I, of course, turned off my alarm, crawled back into bed, and fell blissfully back to sleep. Doug was not so lucky. For some reason he can’t seem to get on the automated snow day list for his school district, and the district website kept going down, so it took a while for him to find out whether or not he had a snow day. Eventually he found that he did. The girls of course did not sleep in. So when I finally came downstairs at 8am, this is what I found.

Crochetville

Oh, I almost forgot…I made a new Jessie At Home button. Do you like it? I do!! Now I just need to use it for various avatars, and in some ads. That’s the Faded Ripple, Liz Hat, Fanny Skirt, and Rachel Skirt.

three-naked-snowmen

Back to the snow day. Doug and the girls had some good, snowy, fun. I don’t do cold. I stayed in with my yarn and the heat. Just after this snap, Doug opened the door and asked if I could bring him a handful of pennies. Why, you ask?

Vada-and-Alice

Meet Alice.

Kyla-and-Brrrr

And Brrr. I love the silly names Kyla comes up with. Did I ever tell you about her goldfish she named bloopy? Oh, and yes, she is holding Brrr’s hand.

Alice-Vade-Olaf-Kyla-and-Brrrr

Here we have Alice, Vada, Olaf (I like warm hugs), Kyla, and Brrr.

snow-day-sillies

I have no idea what is going on here, but it sure is cute.

Kyla-catching-snowflakes

This may be one of my favorite photos ever. I think that is a good way to leave you.
