Happy Tuesday! As promised, I have a review and giveaway of Cloudborn Fibers yarn for you! Cloudborn Fibers is the new yarn line from Craftsy.

Over the past few days, I have been creating with the Baby Alpaca Bulky. I absolutely love it! It’s very soft and warm, great for the cold months coming. It has just enough fuzziness to give it that super soft look, but not so much that it becomes a pain to frog if you make a mistake…or if some crazy designer makes you drop a bunch of stitches (but more on that later). The Baby Alpaca comes in a great selections of colors that are all great for winter. I’m guessing they did that on purpose, as it is a great winter yarn! I looked through the other yarns in the line, and I have to say, I really believe they thought about the most likely uses for all the yarns when choosing the colors. They all fit so well.

As for the Baby Alpaca, it’s the perfect yarn for a knit shawl point fringed cowl I’ve head rattling about in my head for a while. So that’s what I’m making!! The pattern will be released as my next knit pattern, so that would be the first Friday of next month: December 4th. I have a little sneak peak for you:

See, crazy designer, making you drop stitches.

I didn’t have to look at the colors long to know I needed the Sky Blue and Ivory for the cowl, and I’ve named it the Cloud Cowl. It seemed fitting. 🙂 Another thing I love about the yarn ~ it says it’s 100 grams per skein, and it is 100 g per skein. I always like to check, especially when I’m designing a new pattern and need to be sure I list the yarn amounts used correctly. Honestly, I’ve found skeins that weigh more than they say, but never less. I still check anyway!

I have a fun treat for you as well! Craftsy has been generous enough to offer a giveaway for a kit for the cowl. The winner will receive the PDF of the pattern from me, and the yarn needed to make the cowl from Craftsy. The giveaway starts today, and ends December 3rd ~ just before the pattern is released.

To enter the Cloud Cowl Giveaway, you must be 18 years of age with a valid shipping address in the USA or Canada. Giveaway ends December 3rd at end of day eastern time. One winner will be contacted by email for their shipping address, at which point the winner will be emailed the PDF of the pattern, and sent the yarn needed to complete the pattern from Craftsy. Winner must reply to notification email with a valid shipping address within 1 week or a new winner will be chosen.
