OK, better late then never! For Project #10 of Craft Hope, I made scarves and small spa bags for the ladies and children at the local safe house.
The safe house is where these brave woman can go, with their children if they have any, to escape from abusive relationships and transition into a new life. I imagine Christmas must be a very lonely time for them, so I did what I could to warm it up a bit.
I made plenty of these quilted scarves for all the residents of the safe house this Christmas, both adult and child sizes.
I spent not a penny as we were having a very rough time financially. I used scrap linen from various Medieval garb I have made both for my family and for commissions. I also used leftover strips of batting from various quilt and cloak projects.
The small spa bags were made just for the ladies. I put in the various salves and lotions I had made to give to my friends and family, so I didn’t even need to spend any extra money for that, either. I also gave them a couple of tins of home made fudge and a big jar of home made chai tea mix.
I am so inspired by the strength and bravery of these woman. They have left everything to protect their children and themselves. That kind of strength amazing, and I hope they all see that in themselves.
