Happy Love Day…and stuff…

I have a lot of sharing for you today. Photos of randomness from the last week or so, some cuteness from the girls’ play date and sleepover, and a few Valentine’s Day snaps. Basically, a what I’m up to post for you today.

When my parents went on a little trip over the holidays, my dad found a few items that he knew I would love!

He didn’t know this, but I LOVE the Tom Tierney paper doll books. They are actually very true to period, and were even considered acceptable period costume research by my uber picky undergrad advisor.

He also found this pretty thimble at the gift shop outside of the Petra Treasury. I think that was were he found the earrings as well. I really love them.

Here is some colorful yarn I received from Lion Brand. Happiness in a box!

I think Kyla likes hot cocoa.

A couple of weeks ago a friend asked me to make this hat for her son. I used this pattern, which is totally worth the cost! Sometimes I just don’t have the time or desire to write a pattern for something, and it is nice when I can find a good quality pattern that someone else has already taken the time and talent to create. I did add a few extra little bumps between the top and the middle round of pieces, but it looks great as the pattern is written as well.

The girls love when I get deliveries and when I clean out old boxes of stuff. They get to create awesomeness. Here is their rocketship. Kyla has a space helmet. Apparently Vada did not need one.

I have been playing with yarn from Frabjous Fibers. I am SO in LoVe!!!

I am not sure why, but last week I felt the need to take photos of the girls’ dressers. It is cute how the dressers really show a lot about them. This is Kyla’s dresser, full of dolls, pictures of family, jewelry, lotion, and other toys.

And Vada’s. Much less cluttered. Just some cute fantasy items and people she loves.

A while back the girls made pinch pot monsters in art class. Kyla’s is on the left and Vada’s is on the right. I really love this idea. I remember making pinch pots as a kid. I think everyone does it as one of the early clay projects in elementary school. Of course, most of them are seriously misshapen, and not very “pot” like. I think it is great that their art teacher found a way to go with the misshapenness that happens, and have the kids create something awesome and fun, while still learning the technique. Plus, they are just so great!!!

Some days, I have serious knit and crochet ADD. Don’t even ask how many WiPs are in that pile.

On Friday, we had 2 extra girls for a play date after school. One stayed until just after 8pm, and the other stayed the night. Here they all are playing the Princess Pop~Up game that the girls got for Christmas.

Later there was a music break.

They really had a great time. When the girls asked if they could have these two friends over at the same time, I was quite happy with their choice of who that wanted over. I adore all their friends, but these are two who I knew would listen to me and be easy to have over. They *happily* proved me right.

Kyla’s favorite day is Valentine’s Day, so of course dressing for the day was necessary.

Doug took the girls to the library in the morning, and then to Burger King for lunch. They very rarely get fast food, as I am not really a fan of it, and it is so far removed from being healthy (or even being food) that it is just not something we eat very often. I think Kyla’s favorite part was the crown.

We watched E.T. yesterday. It was the first time the girls saw it. Can you guess what part they are watching? I’ll give you a hint: a minute later Kyla got up to get a box of tissues.

Have a great week, my friends!
