Today we have a review of another awesome book in the Search Press “20 to make” line. Knitted Hats: 20 to Knit by Monica Russel features a great variety of male, female, and unisex hats to knit for the coming winter.
[pullquote width=”600″ float=”center”]Knitted hats are never out of fashion, and in this collection of twenty hats to knit, Monica Russel brings you traditional, and modern, designs that you will want to wear all year round! From the beanie to the beret, each design can be knitted as shown in the book, using the easy-to-follow instructions, or adapted in a colour scheme that best suits the wearer.[/pullquote]
Monica starts her book with a short introduction, then moves right into a Knitting Know How page. She gives you all the information you will need to be able to successfully complete her patterns and have them turn out looking good and fitting well.
From there Monica moves into the 20 patterns. The first is a great unisex hat that is easy to make. It’s the perfect way to ease into the book. As the patterns go on there is colorwork, fair isle, cables, and various other techniques used to create hats of all shapes and styles that are sure to please. There is such a great variety, everyone is sure to find something that makes them happy.
The patterns are clear and easy to follow. There is something for every skill level, and due to the variety of techniques used, this is a great learning book. There are also easy to read charts for the color work/fair isle patterns.
