Sometimes we all need a hug! This little Monster Hug Lovie features an adorable little monster attached to a small octagonal blanket, and is perfect for little arms to hug and love. You can embroider on any sort of expression you like. I’m fond of the squiggly smile, because laughs and hugs go well together!

Blanket: for this section, the ch-7s count as one stitch in the stitch count.
Rnd 1: Ch 4, join with a sl st to form a loop, ch 9 (counts as first dc and ch 7 here and throughout), [dc in loop, ch 7] 7 times, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 9. – 16 sts
Rnd 2: Ch 9, [2 dc in next dc, ch 7, skip ch-7] 7 times, dc in last dc, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 9. – 24 sts
Rnd 3: Ch 9, [dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 7, skip ch-7] 7 times, dc in next 2 dc, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 9. – 32 sts
Rnd 4: Ch 9, [dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 7, skip ch-7] 7 times, dc in next 3 dc, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 9. – 40 sts
Rnd 5: Ch 9, [dc in each dc to ch-7 sp, dc in last st once more, ch 7, skip ch-7] 7 times, dc in each dc to ch-9, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 9. – 48 sts
Rnds 6-24: Repeat round 5.

Loop the ladders:
There are now 8 sets of “ladders” (chain 7s) coming from the center of the blanket. Grab one at the center and twist it clockwise a half turn to make a loop, with your fingers or a large crochet hook, grab the next chain 7 and pull it through the loop WITHOUT twisting. Repeat this step all the way to the end of the chain 7s. There is a video that shows how to loop the Jacob’s Ladder HERE.
Rnd 25: Sl st loosly in each st around, when you reach the ladder loops, sl st through the first and last ch in the loop as one to hold the loop together, sl st to first sl st.

End off and weave in ends
