Easy Skill Level
Designed by Jessie Rayot

This easy scarf is the first of the Nettie’s Super Simple patterns worked in rows. It can be made in one color, or in several colors. The ends can be left as fringe, or tied into tassels. This is a great beginner pattern, and there is even a link to a video to help with the stitch.

Getting Started:
Find a video tutorial of the Nettie’s Super Simple Stitch in rows here.
Find a written, photo, and video tutorial for the chain stitch here, and for the slip stitch here.
A small variation in gauge is fine, though it will change the size of the finished scarf. Leave a 12″ tail at the start and end of each row to be turned into fringe or tassels.
If working with just 1 color yarn, you can work back and forth in rows by not cutting the yarn at the end of each row, and just turning and continuing on with the next row. To add a tassel after, gather each end together and use a long piece of yarn (about 4 feet) folded in half to make a thick and short chain off each end. Add a tassel to the end of each chain.

Pattern:
Row 1: Ch 256, cut yarn leaving a 10″ tail and pull tail through loop on hook.
Rows 2-13: With a new piece of yarn and leaving a 10″ tail, sl st in first st, ch 2, skip 2, sl st in next st, (ch 5, sk 5, sl st in next st) to end, , cut yarn leaving a 10″ tail and pull tail through loop on hook.

Leave ends as fringe and cut to an even length, or tie ends into a knot and cut ends even to make tassels.

Wear or give and enjoy!
