New~To~Me Camera!

I have a new~to~me camera!!! It is a gently used Nikon CoolPix P510 that I bought from my awesome friend (and crochet mom) Kim. It arrived on Friday and I immediately ran around the house snapping pictures of EVERYTHING! I’m having way too much fun, and I haven’t even gotten to reading the manual yet. Imagine the fun that will happen then!!

Yarnie friends: you will want to read this post all the way to the end, as there is a surprise for you at the bottom!!

So, here are some of the camera test photos, along with a little about our weekend.

As I said, I started out by running around the house snapping pictures of everything. Mostly I took pictures that I knew would have not worked so well in the past, just to see how the new camera could handle a challenge.

As I was running around the house like a mad woman, my friend Becky called. While we were talking, I noticed the magnolia tree had turned my yard pink and figured I better get some snaps of that. At this point Becky is well aware that I am completely bonkers, so she just giggled as I fumbled with the window so I could take photos outside without loosing my call. I should figure out how far I can go with the house phone before it cuts out. I’ll have to call Doug on his cell in the house and walk around the yard saying “can you hear me now” to find the limits.

I brought the camera to pick up the girls so I could take some nature photos on the walk home. Their friend Julianna, who lives in the house behind us and over a few, was walking home as well, so we walked together. Kyla and Julianna held hands most of the way. It was so cute!

I did manage to get some nature snaps as we walked home. I am really in love with this camera!

Making-Fairies-2015Pin

On Saturday the girls took out Vada’s fairy kit she got for Christmas. They had a blast making the little fairies and the fairy home, and then playing with them.

The girls had asked Doug if they could buy some new toys with their money. So on Sunday morning we took a trip out and Kyla got a cuddly Hello Kitty, and a Monster High girl ~ she is a cross between a skeleton and a moth. She’s pretty cool. Oh, Kyla also got some Pokemon cards. I guess she plays Pokemon with some other kids at recess.

Pre-Star-Wars-Day-Play-2105Pin

On Sunday afternoon, Doug and the girls pulled out the Star Wars toys to celebrate Star Wars Day. They were a day early, but they weren’t going to have time to play on Monday, so they figured they should celebrate on Sunday instead.

Well, that’s all for now. My yarn is calling me…and so is the leftover Chinese in the fridge.

What was I listening to today?

Did you think I forgot about your surprise, my yarnie friends?

Well, here it is!!

It looks like I may start doing giveaways from time to time, so I need to test out this whole Rafflecopter thing! To give it a test, I have set up a giveaway for 3 patterns of your choice from my paid patterns. Remember I have both knit patterns and crochet patterns, so make sure you are getting what you want! The winner will get to choose and I will have the patterns added to your Ravelry library. If you do not have a Ravelry account, I can email you the PDFs, but I highly recommend setting up a Ravelry account. It is free, and all you patterns are stored in your library attached to your profile, so even if your computer crashes and you lose you pattern PDF backup, you can always access your Ravelry patterns though your Ravelry account ~ on any computer!
