After making the Skylark in Wonderland wrap, I couldn’t help but notice that it would seam together to make a really fun skirt. I even had a feeling the angle of it would work nicely for plus size figures as well. So I dove into my Lion Brand Heartland stash and gave it a go. The results are a skirt I’m sure to wear quite frequently this fall!!

Designed by Jessie Rayot
Size:
Waist – ANY!! Length – 30″
Yarn:
Lion Brand Heartland – amounts needed will vary based on size.
The 2X in the photos used 850 grams.
Hook:
US 9/I, 5.5mm
Gauge:
16 sts x 16 rows = 4″ in single crochet – stitch count is more important than row count.
Stitches and Skills used:
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
Getting Started:
There are no turning chains on the even numbered rows. Just make the first sc in the first st as indicated in the pattern.
Pattern:
Row 1: With first color ch 123, turn, sc in second ch from hook and in the next 41 ch, hdc in the next 40 ch, dc in the last 40 ch.
~or~
Fsc 42, fhdc 40, fdc 40
To make skirt shorter, subtract the same number of stitches from each of the 3 types of stitch. You will need to continue to subtract that many from each type of stitch throughout the entire pattern.
Row 2: Turn, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next 39 sts, hdc in next 40 sts, sc in next 40 sts, sc2tog. {121 sts in this row}
~change color~
Row 3: Turn, sc2tog, sc in next st, (ch 1, skip 1, sc in next st) 19 times, (ch 1, skip 1, hdc in next st) 20 times, (ch 1, skip 1, dc in next st) 20 times. {120 sts in this row}
Row 4: Ch 6, turn, dc in 4th ch from hook (the last 3 chains made count as the first dc), dc in each of next 2 ch, 2 dc in next 18 ch-1 spaces, 2 hdc in next 20 ch-1 spaces, 2 sc in next 21 ch-1 spaces, sc2tog. {123 sts in this row}
Row 5: Turn, sc2tog, sc in next 41 sts, hdc in next 40 sts, dc in last 40 sts. {122 sts in this row}
Row 6: Turn, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next 39 sts, hdc in next 40 sts, sc in next 40 sts, sc2tog. {121 sts in this row}
Repeat rows 3 ~ 6: once more (10 rows total so far.
**Switch to next color and repeat rows 3~6 three more times.
Repeat from ** until there is one color stripe for each inch of wearer’s hip measurment, finish color pattern (if you have stopped in the middle of the color pattern, keep going until you reach the end), repeat rows 3 and 4 once more with first color.
Seam the starting chain and the last row together to form skirt.
Waistband
Rnd 1: (Right Side) Sc around top of skirt by placing 4 sc in top of each color section, sl st to top of first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to top of first hdc.
Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc) dc in each st around, sl st to top of beginning ch-3.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in first st, BPtr in hdc below next st, (sc in next st, BPtr in hdc below next st) around, sl st to top of beginning sc. (This will mean that every other st from rnd 3 is NOT worked into, as the post st is worked into the sts from rnd 2.)
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st in top of begging sc.
Clip yarn, weave in all ends.
Weave elastic through the back post stitches on the inside of the waistband. Sew the ends of the elastic together.
Wear or give and enjoy!

Não consegui fazer as listras. Acho que é a tradução.
Sorry, you must have a translation problem, it’s hard for me to help when we don’t speak the same language.
I could not make the stripes. I think it’s the translation. (that’s the translation of her sentence. Not everyone speaks English Jessie)
My comment: I think the pattern as a wrap would be beautiful…as a skirt no. One would need to be a skinny fashion model to look good in that as a skirt. It might look better if the blouse you are wearing was the color of one of the stripes.
I’m aware not everyone speaks English, but I do so that is the language of my patterns.
hi..
I am Harika. I loved this skirt.. i want to make one.. My height is 5′ 5″… could u please suggest me the number of chains required?
Just use the number in the pattern, that should be find for your height.
Thank you for your design. I have been looking for a skirt that was done in more of a fabric stitch rather than lacy for a more cozy and warm look. It’s also very straight forward and to the point without wasting an enormous amount of printer ink.
