Quick Crochet for the Home 20 Fast Projects to Liven up Every Room by Tamara Kelly is a great way to add some personalization to your home! With fun and quick ideas for every room, there are plenty of ways to show off your craft skills.
[pullquote width=”700″ float=”center”]…crochet is the touch that makes a house a home. It shows that people live and love and cuddle and create in that space. Crocheted pieces add history and thoughtfulness to a room…[/pullquote]
Tamara opens her book with a nice introduction. From there the patterns are divided into 6 chapters, separated by room: living room in color, fun in the kitchen, delicious dining room, bathroom retreat, cozy up in the bedroom and kids these days. The book finishes with abbreviations, a glossary with illustrated stitch instruction, and yarn sources.
All the patterns are well written as followers of Tamara’s blog, Moogly, have come to expect. Crocheters of any level will be able to find wonderful patterns in this book. Here are a few of my favorites!
I love the Around the Table Trivet. It’s the stitches used that really attract me to it. It looks great, but the stitch is actually very easy!
The Bold Diagonal Throw Pillow utilizes the ever popular corner to corner box stitch. Made with Berroco Vintage yarn, it’s no wonder I’m drawn to it!
Even the few larger projects in the book are still pretty quick! The Faux Cabled Blanket uses large yarn and a relatively quick stitch to make a larger project quick to make.
Oh my goodness, aren’t the Smart as a Fox Book Ends just the cutest? I adore them!! And bonus points the the person setting up the photo shoot for some awesome books!
The Step on in Rug is simple yet elegant, as are so many of Tamara’s lovely designs. It’s a great way to add a personal touch to a room in a subtle way.
I would certainly recommend Quick Crochet for the Home to any crocheter looking for patterns for the home. It can be enjoyed by crocheters of any skill level and would make a great gift!
