Sometimes you need to bring your yarnie projects along with you! This bag lets you do that in style. The fun ruffles and flowers add a fun flair. It is big enough to carry a work in progress, but not so big it is unwieldy.

rdc ~ ruffle double crochet ~ insert hook in the next hole in yarn B or C, yo with yarn A, insert hook into the next st, yo with A, pull through 2 loops, yo with A, pull through all remaining loops.

Getting Started:
If you look at the Yorganza yarn very closely you can see that there is a front and a back. Be sure to use the yarn from whichever end places the front of the yarn on the outside of your work. In my case I found that to be the inside end of the yarn.

Pattern:
Round 1: With yarn A, fhdc 18
~or~
Ch 19, hdc in the bottom loop of the second ch from hook, and each remaining ch (18 hdc)
**To make a larger bag, start with more sts.

Round 2: Ch 1 (does not count as first hdc here or throughout), 4 hdc in the side of the last fhdc made, hdc in each of the bottom chains of round 1, 4 hdc in the side of round 1, hdc in each st across, join with a sl st to the top of first hdc made. (44 sts)

Round 3: Ch 1, * 2 hdc in each of the next 4 sts, hdc in each of the next 18 sts, repeat from * one more time, join with a sl st to the top of first hdc made. (52 sts)

Round 4: Ch 1, * (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st) 4 times, hdc in each of the next 18 sts, repeat from * one more time, join with a sl st to the top of first hdc made. (60 sts)

Round 5: Ch 1, * (2 hdc in next st, hdc in each of the next 2 sts) 4 times, hdc in each of the next 18 sts, repeat from * one more time, join with a sl st to the top of first hdc made. (68 sts)

Round 6: Ch 1, * (2 hdc in next st, hdc in each of the next 3 sts) 4 times, hdc in each of the next 18 sts, repeat from * one more time, join with a sl st to the top of first hdc made. (76 sts)

Round 7: Ch 1, * (2 hdc in next st, hdc in each of the next 4 sts) 4 times, hdc in each of the next 18 sts, repeat from * one more time, join with a sl st to the top of first hdc made. (84 sts)

Round 8: Turn, with the bottom side facing, sl st in each st around, sl st to first sl st made. (84 sts)

Round 9: Turn, ch 1 (does not count as first dc here or throughout), dc in each sl st made in round 8, join with a sl st to the top of first dc made. (84 sts)

Round 10: Turn, ch 1, rdc in first st, dc in next st, *rdc in next st, dc in next st, repeat from * to end of round, join with a sl st to the top of first rdc made. (84 sts)

Repeat Round 10: to desired height.

Top Round: With just yarn A, ch 1, sc in each st around, flip yarn B in between the last sc made and the starting ch 1 so that it is now inside the bag, sl st to the top of the first sc made, over top of yarn B. Clip A and end off.

Border: For this round, use yarn B as you would a “regular” yarn, ignoring the holes. Insert hook in the first st made of the last round 10 repeat, pull through a loop of yarn B, slip st LOOSLY in every other st of this round, around bag top, clip yarn and pull the end through to the inside of the bag. Weave in end or sew it down with needle and thread.

Straps: Cut 1 piece of yarn B and 2 pieces of yarn C all 8’ long. Fold the pieces in half and braid them all together. Repeat. Pin straps in place and sew them to the inside of the bag.

Flowers: Find the pattern for the flower here. Make 4 flowers with yarn C and attach them at the bases of each strap.
