Family time catch up

It’s been a while since I’ve shared family photos with you, so here are some that have piled up on my phone.

Kyla playing her new guitar

When we were on vacation, Kyla’s Uncle Alex gave her a guitar. She really loves it. She wants to play guitar and sing.

Summer Fun! – LBI 2016

Hello my blogland friends! I hope your summer has been wonderful. Ours is coming to a close – school is starting shortly. We’ve had some fun adventures this summer. We spent last week on LBI (Long Beach Island, NJ), and I have some photos to share with you. But first, I wanted to share some cake photos! My parents and I all missed the girl’s 9th birthday, so a few weeks ago when we were all together we had another birthday for them. We did a few things to celebrate, including letting the girls make their own cakes!

Philly ComiCon or Go Go Power Rangers!

After leaving the Yarn and Wine Tasting last week, we decided to take a little adventure. Doug had discovered that half way home we would be passing the Philly ComiCon, and the original Pink Ranger would be signing autographs! The girls LOVE the Power Rangers, and Kyla dressed as the Pink Ranger – her favorite – for Halloween this year. So you can imagine that it was pretty much decided immediately that we would stop at the ComiCon on the way home for an autograph and photo op!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Holiday Coupon 2015

Hello my friends! Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m going to be spending some time with my family. After all, Jessie At Home came about as a way to keep in touch with my extended family, and to keep a history of my immediate family.

So, this will be my last post until Tuesday. That means no round up, pattern, or link blast. Everything resumes as normal (wait, we have normal?) on Tuesday. I hope you all are able to take some time to be with your loved ones as well.

As a thank you to you, my loyal readers, I have set up a coupon code on both Ravelry and Etsy. Use the code

Thankful

Today I am thankful for Doug’s Grandmother, Gertrude ~ Gertie to her friends.

The first time I met Doug’s family was for his Grandfather’s 89th birthday. Doug was very close to his grandfather, and he said he didn’t think his grandfather was going to be around for 90, so he wanted me to meet him. We had only been dating for about a month, and I met the whole family all at once. It was a little scary, but I had a nice time, and I really liked both his grandparents.

Doug was right, his grandfather didn’t see 90. Gertie came to most of the family functions with her son, Tom. I remember the first Easter I spent with them. Doug and I had been dating for almost a year at that point. Someone mentioned peeps, and I said the only thing they were good for was blowing up in the microwave. This intrigued Gertie. I told her that they expand in the microwave, and if you are careful you can stop the microwave before they explode and make a giant peep. This REALLY intrigued her. Alyson (Doug’s sister) and I went to the Wawa (like 7-11) and bought some peeps.

Big Trucks, Books, Yarn, and Other Fun

Hello my blogland friends! How was your weekend? We had a lot of fun over here. I’ve been working a lot, but this weekend I did find some time to play with the kiddos. Here is a little about what we did and some photos of the fun!

Bedtime-Stories-by-Mo-Willems

Some nights the girls like to read bedtime stories to each other. Kyla is a big fan of the Mo Willems books. Here she is with a big stack of them, reading to Vada.

Off-to-muffins-for-moms

Tow hitch

This morning was muffins for moms at the school. From 8:15 to 8:45 the K-3 children and their moms are invited into the cafeteria for muffins, bagels, fruit, juice, and coffee. I wasn’t feeling great this morning when I woke up, so I decided to drive; normally we walk when it’s not too cold or raining out. The girls and I remembered to snap a picture on the way out the door. It’s not the greatest picture, like I said, I wasn’t feeling well.

My neighbor Claudine also drove with her kids. About a block from the school, my car rolled out in front of her and stopped in the intersection. At first she thought that I saw her and had stopped to wave, but that seemed odd. Then she noticed no one was driving. She got out to see what was going on, and 2 other mothers were out there. One told her she was parking behind my car and her car wouldn’t stop and she hit mine.

New~To~Me Camera!

I have a new~to~me camera!!! It is a gently used Nikon CoolPix P510 that I bought from my awesome friend (and crochet mom) Kim. It arrived on Friday and I immediately ran around the house snapping pictures of EVERYTHING! I’m having way too much fun, and I haven’t even gotten to reading the manual yet. Imagine the fun that will happen then!!

Yarnie friends: you will want to read this post all the way to the end, as there is a surprise for you at the bottom!!

So, here are some of the camera test photos, along with a little about our weekend.

As I said, I started out by running around the house snapping pictures of everything. Mostly I took pictures that I knew would have not worked so well in the past, just to see how the new camera could handle a challenge.

Spring Breaks 2015 – more then one and lots of fun

That’s right. Spring breakS. Pural. Last week the girls were on spring break, and the week before it was Doug. It’s such a bummer that they do not have the same spring break. But we make the most of it. Doug took 3 days during his spring break off of his second job (tutor for Huntington Learning Center) so he would have more time with the girls. They loved when he would pick them up from school and then be home the rest of the day.
