Camporee !!

This weekend was the Girl Scout Camporee for our Service Unit. The girls had a blast. I could go on for quite some time about it, but in an attempt to not write the longest post in blogging history, I will just share some snaps and tell you a bit about each. Please pardon some of the fuzzy photos. I was too paranoid to bring my good camera, so all these snaps were taken with my phone.

Memorial Day and other Family Fun

It’s been some time since I have shared family photos with you all! So here are some fun snaps and a bit about what we have all been up to over the last month or so

Star-Wars-Day-May-2015

Star Wars Day (May the Fourth be with you!) was on a Monday, so Doug and the girls celebrated on Sunday with lots of Star Wars toys. It was adorable.

Daisy ~ Free Crochet Skirt Pattern

Daisy is a fashionable flared skirt perfect for the spring and summer! This skirt works as a swimsuit cover up for the beach, or as everyday wear over tight shorts or leggings. Made with Lion Brand Modern Baby yarn, this skirt can be machine washed, which is always nice for children’s clothing!! Daisy got her name because the pattern is a variation on the Juliette shawl. Juliette was named after Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Guides (which became the Girl Scouts) and her nickname was Daisy.

Building Houses

The girls and I spent Saturday morning with the Girl Scout troop making gingerbread houses.

Lots-of-construction

First they got to make little turkey cookies. Here is Kyla thinking hard about the perfect placement for the candy corn feathers. I would love to show you the finished cookies, but they seem to have been devoured by hungry little carnivores.

Fall Cleaning 2014

Some people do spring cleaning. I am more of a fall cleaning kind of girl. Something about fall makes me want to get everything in order. Maybe it’s Doug and the girls all going back to school and me actually having an empty house so I can get more done. Plus, when I am alone I seem to notice the clutter more.

So…I have been trying to get the house in order, and find a routine that works. I am enjoying the TV/laptop free afternoons from when the girls get home until after dinner. I am able to go through the mail and school papers while they do homework, and still help them when they need it. I have been doing better about staying on top of the laundry, and the house is slowly getting more presentable.

I am also going through my computer files and cleaning up. I have lots of partial patterns to finish up. My friend Kim was recently saying how de~cluttering helps her mood, and I have to agree. I need to de~clutter!

Almost-Ready-To-Post

Remember when I got some pretty new yarn from Lion Brand in the mail?

New-Brownies!

Bridge to Brownies!

The girls and I have enjoyed two fabulous years of Girl Scout Daisies, and Thursday night they became Girl Scout Brownies! I am so proud of them. I love it when they do something and they say “I am going to (do this) because it is what a good Girl Scout would do”. Or when they see someone do something that is no so nice and they say “That is not a very Girl Scout thing to do.” I hope … Read more

Books, Daisies, and Girl’s Night!

Hello! As I told you the other day, Wednesday and Thursday were the book fair days at the girl’s school. It was tons of fun. The kids REALLY love books. Really LOVE books! Recess was like a scene from a zombie apocalypse movie. I came home on Thursday with just a few books. These are the books that I chose. I thought the cookbook would be fun for bonding with the girls over the summer break. There are some great … Read more

Daisy Animal Flip Books!

Here are the results of the unique animals we created at our last Daisy meeting. At the start of the meeting the girls all colored various animals I had printed out. We talked about what “unique” means (Yay Alexa for knowing the meaning of unique!!). We discussed what makes each of them unique and what makes each of the animals they had colored unique. While the girls were having a snack, I cut the animals into 3 and put them … Read more

Attack of the Girl Scout Cookies 2014!

Well, it’s that time of year again! My house has been overrun by Girl Scout cookies! We picked up our 1248 packages (in 104 boxes) of Girl Scout Cookies on Sunday afternoon. We stacked them all in my dining room…and my living room, by kind. We sorted the first girl’s cookies before I remembered to snap some photos. So here is what (almost) 104 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies looks like in my house. Eventually all the packages were sorted … Read more
