Medieval University

Remember my basket making post? I said I had to teach some friends how to make the baskets, also? That was this weekend. On Saturday, one of our Medieval groups had a Medieval University. It was basically a day full of classes to share the various Medieval arts and crafts we knew. I taught basket making to three lovely ladies, unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures. I did bring the camera to the class. I even dropped it in the basket water. Luckily I fished it out in time, and all was well. I do have pictures from the day, just none from the class.

At the beginning of the day, Doug took the girls outside to play in the playground. The site we were at was a church with a preschool, and they had a wonderful playground. It was just right for our girls. They loved that they were able to play on the whole thing without needing help from Daddy. There were a few slides, and much sliding fun!

There was also a little house to play in, and to peer out from.

Danny, their very sweet little friend, was happy to show them how to drive on the truck in the playground.

*Have to take a moment to tell you what Vada was just doing. I looked over and she had the little ponytail holder she had removed from her hair sticking out of her mouth ~ just like Mommy does ~ and she was trying to pull all her hair up into a ponytail with her hands. Then she held on with one hand and stuck the ponytail holder on top of her head. She was very disappointed when this action did not result in a ponytail.*

OK, cute snap of Danny playing with the girls. Isn’t Danny just a beautiful little girl? And she is so good with the girls, too. She is an only child, so she really seems to enjoy the times she can play “big sister”. She even brought books to read to Kyla and Vada, and gave the books to the girls at the end of the day. Her Mommy and I were talking about possible play dates this summer to museums and  such. I’m looking forward to it.

Inside – I was setting up my class, and just enjoying time with friends. I only took one class, and it was more on the inner workings of the group then a craft, but it was info I wanted to know. My class was a lot of fun, and the ladies who took it seemed to enjoy it. As much as you can enjoy the trials and tribulations of your first basket.

After classes there was a lovely feast. The girls had fun with Lady Caitlin ~ they convinced her to be the wind so they could fly kites. Sorry for the blurry pictures, the lights were dimmed and candles were lit at tables, not the best photo conditions. I couldn’t find a setting for movement indoors in dim light, and the sport setting came out way too dark ~I’m still figuring out the new camera. Soooo…visible but blurry it is.

All in all it was a very nice day. Good friends, good fun, and lots of love for the girls! By the time we arrived home, we were exhausted; but sometimes that is just the sign of a wonderful kind of day!
