One month to go!

Just one month to go until the CGOA/TKGA Knit and Crochet show (Oct 2 ~ 6). Lorene and I are getting rather excited.

We will be taking several classes, and participating in several events. My goal is to improve my skills to bring you even better patterns, and to improve this blog.  Also, to have a LOT of fun!! Lorene and I will be doing lots of schmoozing, and I will be taking many photos. I was sure to get a hotel with free Wi~Fi so that I can share with you. It is my plan to write a post for you each night about the show. I will do my best to get some pictures with exciting people, and beautiful creations.

Speaking of the hotel…

The travel and lodging expenses are a bit high. To help offset those costs I am giving you the opportunity to have a pattern named after you.  Do you see that “Donate” button at the top of my left sidebar? If you donate at least $20 I will name a pattern after you. You choose the name (nothing that is inappropriate), and I will use it on a pattern made in the next year. In the pattern I will also include a bit about the pattern’s name sake, and a link to your website/social media, if you so choose. This means you will receive advertising with every pattern view!

Also, for every $50 you donate you will receive a 150×150 spot on my left sidebar for an ad for one month. Each additional $50 gets you an additional month. You still get to name one pattern as well!

So there you have it. Two ways to help me get to the show, and maybe even take a few more classes then I already had scheduled.

As for the schedule, here is what Lorene and I have planed so far:

Wednesday

8 ~ 5 CGOA Professional Development Day

It sounds like we will learn a lot about what it means to be a “professional” designer. Oh, the possibilities!! (If you are going to the show and want to attend this event, you do have to buy a ticket, just like for the classes)

Lunch ~ this is the only day lunch is offered at the show, so we are going for it. It should be a nice way to start the show, plus no worries about missing any of the day by leaving the hotel.

5pm  CGOA Professional Mixer ~ Sponsored by Crochetville, so you know it will be fun! This will be a great way to meet some awesome people.

Maybe dinner with everyone after.

Cre8tion Crochet Live should be quite fun and interesting on this Wednesday, don’t miss it!

Thursday

Early Bird shopping preview, for those who have registered for at least one class only. I’m not sure if we can buy anything yet, or if this is just a chance to make a shopping list. Did I mention the donate button on the top left of this blog?

I’m thinking there will be a lot of networking and crocheting on this day.

6 ~ 7pm Conference kick off

Friday

9 ~ 12 Shawls from all angles ~ We will be learning all about making various size and shape shawls and different techniques and stitches to use.

1 ~ 1:30 Fashion Parade ~ see examples of some pretties that can be made with the yarn and patterns for sale!

2 ~ 5 Finishing like a pro ~ By the time finishing comes around, sometimes things get a bit rushed. We are excited to learn some techniques to make our finished items look the best they can. We want to be sure we are presenting you with the best possible patterns, and professional finish techniques are part of that.

CGOA Dinner, Fashion Show, and Silent Auction

Saturday

Designer Meet and Greet ~ great opportunities and feedback here!

Meet~Ups with Crochetville, CLF & Ravelry ~ we get to meet some of our cyber friends in real life, and make new friends as well

2 ~ 5 The Well~Fitting Crochet Sweater ~ Remember when I told you about that awesome Craftsy class I took on knit sweater pattern design? It sounds like this will be the same idea with crochet. To say I am excited is an understatement. Again, this will help Lorene and I to create even better patterns for you!

CGOA Fun Night ~ PARTY, that’s right, PARTY!!

There will also be a knit and crochet lounge to just hang out and create. I anticipate a good bit of unwinding time happening here.

Well, there you have it. Be prepared for fun and excitement!
