I am feeling a lot better, thank you for all the well wishes here and on Facebook! I’m not back to my full self yet, but I will be soon, and I am finally at the point where I can be productive. Plus, typing doesn’t hurt anymore! Sometimes something hits me all at once, and really hard, and my immune system attacks and drains all my energy to fight! It’s great having an immune system that takes no prisoners, but when it goes into full on attack mode, there is very little I can do other than sleep. Any energy I can muster is usually stored up to take a shower. So, I was knocked out for the weekend, but about half way through yesterday I started to feel like one of the living again.

Anyway, I have put together a few snaps from the past week to share.

Doug’s school was off for the Jewish holiday on Thursday (Happy New Year to my Jewish readers! May it bring you joy and love!). He told me on Tuesday. Shortly after telling me, he emerged from the kitchen, “The washer is broken.”

“Broken?”

“Broken.”

“Hot date at Sears on Thursday morning?”

“Yup.”

Isn’t it pretty? We wanted something simple, top loading, under $500, and that we could walk out of the store with. I was rather impressed that they were able to fulfill our entire list. We really just wanted the simplest model they had, as we intend on redoing the kitchen/washroom in several years, and who know what we will want at that time? Plus, we are determined to pay off Doug’s Student Loans before the New Year, and we didn’t want this to put a kink in those plans.

It’s a high efficiency, and it holds more than the old one: meaning less loads; so it should save us some money. (Lots ‘o fancy punctuation in that last sentence!)

Raised Stripes Hats and Scarf (blue/green, and yellow/orange); Eli Hats, Leo Scarf, and Ali Cowl (green/cream and yellow/white); Max hats (4 striped along the bottom) and 2 pink and white hats that I just made up as I went.

I went through some of my pattern samples and craft fair inventory to find items to send out for Craft Hope Project 25. I labeled the patterns used for each in the photo caption, and linked the patterns, just click on the pattern names. I came up with 10 hats, 2 scarves, and one cowl. And of course, the Scrappy Scoodie will be going as well!!

I am not packing up the box just yet, because I am making a knit version of the Scrappy Scoodie. Once that is done and photographed I will send them all off!

I had a gift card for AC Moore last week. When I got there I took a look at their newly re~organized yarn section and discovered they now carry a store brand of yarn.

I had to grab some. I have a pretty little cowl that has been dancing around in my mind for a while, and this will work quite nicely for it!

I tried something new today. From the time I left to pick up the girls from school, until after their shower, we were computer and TV free. I am embracing that I work a split schedule. I work my business during the school day, then again in the evening, and in between, I am mom and housewife. It actually worked quite nicely.

When the girls and I got home, they started homework, and I started going through the piles of papers I had. Mail to be sorted; magazines to be skimmed for interesting recipes and design inspiration (those tiles are going to inspire something, I am sure of it!!); school paperwork; birthday party invites; and an empty calendar waiting to be filled in so I know which way is up.

I know, it looks like a lot. It is a lot, but if I get as much done everyday as I did today, the pile will be gone by the end of the week, and then I will just have upkeep to do!

After homework/paperwork, the girls and I did some cleaning and planned dinner. I hadn’t really thought ahead, so we put on our shoes and walked to the deli on the corner for some $2 student subs (basic small subs), and 3 cookies for dessert. We put the subs in the fridge as it was still a bit early for dinner, and we got some laundry going (I should probably put that in the dryer when I am done with this post). Upon inspection, we decided the apples were far too “mushy” to be eaten plain, so we peeled and sliced them and made some applesauce to have with our cookies!

It was a wonderful afternoon. I really like computer and laptop free afternoons. I am going to try to stick with this. I think all 3 of us will benefit!
