Cowls are so awesome. They stay around your neck so you don’t have to worry about them slipping off like some scarves. Some are short and worn without twisting, and some are long enough to wrap around a couple times. I have found 7 great free crochet cowl patterns for you to enjoy!

This spiraling color cowl makes a great addition to your winter wardrobe. The Green Gradient Cowl is worked with all 5 colors at once in a spiral. Stitch markers are used to help you keep track of where to start and stop each color. Once you get the hang of it, it really moves along, but you do need to follow the pattern carefully to be sure you are on the right path. There are no seams/jumps in the color pattern because of the way it is made, so you end up with a very professional looking finished creation!

Green is such a pretty color, and one I hope to be seeing more of soon! I just love seeing the green of nature coming back to life, and wearing green always makes me feel closer to nature somehow. Is that silly? Well, then I guess green makes me silly! Here are some fun patterns the designers thought would be nice in green so you can be close to nature too!

Grab your Red Heart yarn and make yourself something warm this winter! I’ve found some lovely free crochet patterns for cowls, all made with various Red Heart Yarns. Cowls are a great way to keep warm, and because they are continuous, you don’t have to worry about them blowing off like you do with scarves.

Purple! It’s such a pretty color. It can be royal, demure, vibrant, calm, so many things, just depending on the shade. I’m partial to true purple and lavender. What are your favorite shades of purple? To celebrate this lovely color, I’ve collected some equally lovely free crochet patterns in shades of purple from around the net. Enjoy!!
