I have a lot of sharing for you today. Photos of randomness from the last week or so, some cuteness from the girls’ play date and sleepover, and a few Valentine’s Day snaps. Basically, a what I’m up to post for you today.
When my parents went on a little trip over the holidays, my dad found a few items that he knew I would love!
He didn’t know this, but I LOVE the Tom Tierney paper doll books. They are actually very true to period, and were even considered acceptable period costume research by my uber picky undergrad advisor.
He also found this pretty thimble at the gift shop outside of the Petra Treasury. I think that was were he found the earrings as well. I really love them.

I know I have been lax in sharing snaps and stories of the family lately. I haven’t even been sharing WiPs lately. I will get back to all that.
I have been working on find some organization in my life. I finally have found a way that works for me to keep on top of this crazy little blog. Slowly but surely I have been working towards that end. Somehow, the personal posts seemed to have gotten lost in the shuffle. Just as I was realizing how long it had been, this happened.
If I am recieving an award for best personal life posts on a crochet blog, maybe I should be sure to keep posting them, right? Not to mention my family may be a bit upset with me if I don’t share some stories of the twins, like, now.
So let me just tell you that a schedule is happening, and updates to the blog are happening as well. I would love for it all to be complete by the end of February. For now, the schedule is:
Monday: Crochet or Knit ALong (CAL, KAL)
Tuesday: alternating between a free knit pattern and a Stitchopedia post
Wednesday: evening round up
Thursday: free crochet pattern
Friday or Saturday (or Sunday…): one or two posts about the family and/or WiPs and such
Sunday: evening link blast
I reserve the right to lose my mind and change it all.

I know I told you a little about our Thanksgiving trip in my last family post, but here are a few pictures I missed sharing. I taught the girls to crochet while we were there. They just learned the chain st, but they had fun with it.
Well, the crazy holiday season is officially underway, and we have survived the first holiday. It was actually a great day. Halloween is Vada’s favorite holiday. She wears Halloween themed clothing year round.
The girls had a half day at school, then they went back at 2 for the optional costume parade. Doug’s mom came by just before they got out for the half day, so she picked them up with me, helped to get them in their costumes, and went to the parade with us. It was very nice to have her along.
Here are the girls as we left to go to the costume parade. Vada is Merida from Brave, and Kyla is Elsa from Frozen.
This little girl is a friend of theirs who is in first grade (yes, she is younger than them). She had on my favorite costume of the day!
When I last left you, Andee and I had taken a moment for a mentor/mentee photo op just before the annual CGOA member meeting. At the end of the member meeting, the winners of the 2014 CGOA Design Competition. Then we all adjourned to the marketplace for the pre~opening. OK, we returned home on Friday, Mom flew back to Sicily Monday night, and we are still not totally unpacked, but it is time I start sharing the crazy with you! The girls turned 7 on Sunday. I have some snaps to share with you to show our festivities. Plus a little bit of yarnie stuff at the end of the post. 🙂 I think this was the day before their birthday. May has been quite busy for me. Starting on the 4th, I had a VERY busy week, and have been trying to catch up since. My, I have been busy. I took a few days off of Kyla’s room reno to work on some secret designs (designs I have sold and can’t share with you until they are published.)
There is still quite a bit to do in Kyla’s room, and I hope to be done soon. I really need to buckle down and finish it, because we are having over night guests on Wednesday night, and we will need all the sleeping space we can get!
Speaking of guests, we had several friends over today. One couple brought this awesome pan of brownies:
It’s odd, I’ve lived here, in northern New Jersey just outside of the Lincoln Tunnel, for about eight years; yet until Sunday I have never taken public transit into the City. That’s not to say I haven’t gone into Manhattan, I’ve just always driven in. Before I lived here I lived in Queens, and I took the train of the subway into the City all the time. Yet for some reason, even though it’s quicker to take public transit into the City from here and then it was where I lived in Queens, I just never really went.
One of the hardest things about selling designs is having to sit on things. Any design that I may want to sell to a yarn company, magazine, or some other website/company/what~have~you, I have to keep quite. No one will buy it if I have posted photos of it, and once I sell it, I can’t share until it is published.
