Gobble Gobble, Ho Ho Ho!!

As usual, I’m a bit late in posting these pictures.  We had a wonderful time visiting family in Beverly for Thanksgiving.  So much fun in fact, that I frequently forgot to pick up the camera. Ooops. We stayed with my cousin Christine, who hosted a small Thanksgiving at her apartment. Afterwards Tom, her boyfriend, kicked everybody out of the kitchen so that he could clean it all up.  Vada popped in and asked if she could help, and amazingly he said yes.  I had to sneak in to take a picture of Vada carefully loading the dishwasher after Tom rinsed off the plates.

Later Tom came into the living room to let us know there was another photo op.  Vada was busily scrubbing out all of the pots. She is quite the little helper!

Powerful Powerless Lessons

So it snowed Saturday morning/afternoon. Umm…isn’t it October. Who ever heard of a white Halloween? It was a bit odd. I had already told the girls we would go to the grocery for their Trick or Treating at noon, so we ran out to the car and braved the oddness.

About 3:30, Doug and I were playing with the girls in their room, and the power went out. It soon became clear it was going to stay out for quite a while.

The girls informed Doug that they wanted to “Throw snowballs at Daddy!”, so they all bundled up and out they went. I stayed in and made dinner. Yet another reason I am fond of my gas stove!

So much to do, so little time

Honestly, since I left the theater, I don’t think I’ve understood this phrase as much as I do right now. Somehow I have forgotten how many hours there are in a day and have just taken on a bit too much. I guess that is the downfall of finally having a handle on my MDD for the first time in quite a few years. Guess I will have to learn about restraint again. ;^) So much to do!

On top of the WiPs I had already going on, a few weeks ago my sister~in~law called to say there would be a baby show for our niece on the 9th (last weekend). That’s right, do the math, I’m going to be a great aunt. Our niece’s mother is Doug’s older sister from his father’s first marriage, so I don’t feel quite as old, but it is still a bit of an odd feeling. Then again, I have an uncle who is 5 months younger then me, so I guess I should just chill a bit.

Mother’s Day!

We had a very nice Mother’s day. It started out as any Sunday, cleaning and shopping.

Then I was off to play with the Yarrrn Club at InsaniTea!! I worked on cross stitch, as it is something I can do left handed.

At 4pm, when the fiber fun was over, Doug and the girls showed up. We had a little tea party. The Yummy Berry tea that Ingred served up was, well, YUMMY!!!! I had to buy some to bring home. The girls played the little bongo drums and a guitar and danced around between cups. It was a lovely time.

Then the four of us walked around a bit. It was a gorgeous day! Eventually we stopped and had a wonderful outdoor dinner at Raymond’s. They have a wonderful menu with both vegetarian and meat dishes. I have to remember them next time I have veggie guests!

Finally we crossed the street and grabbed some dessert to go from Cupcakes Galore. Kyla got an Elmo cupcake, and Vada got Hello Kitty.

They are my girls, alright. The first thing they did was eat the eyes. Mmmm.

Easter and other fun!

The text here will be short, one handed typing is no fun.

I couldn’t resist taking this picture one morning just before Easter. The girls were just too adorable.

Fun Ideas for Hope!

So the next Craft Hope project (#10) has been announced. We are each basically using the Craft Hope book or the past projects as inspiration to do something to make the Holidays brighter for those who need it. I have been thinking for a while that I want to find the nearest shelter for woman and children who are escaping abusive relationships and do something nice for them. So this gives me an excuse! I made a call to my towns child help number and they are going to give me a call back with a place that could use some Holiday love. I have been inspired by a few projects in the book. I don’t really have the money to buy any supplies right now, but I have tons of scrap linen, batting scraps from quilts, and lots o’ stuffing. So I am going to makes some scarves inspired by the patchwork scarf project on page 41. I will also make some cute little soft blocks and balls from Amy Butler’s project on page 73. Lastly I still have a bunch of that cute frog print flannel that I’ve had forever, so I may make some bibs with that.

I have a cute idea for decorating the scarves.

Crazy Busy!

I’ve been crazy busy lately! Getting ready for Pennsic and other things. I do have some photos from Memorial Day to share with you!

That’s what I’ve been lately, crazy busy! Getting ready for Pennsic. Lots o’ getting ready for Pennsic. It is my *plan* to take lots of photos and share the vacation and all the new stuff with you when I get back. We’ll see how that turns out. I truly am hoping that once we come back my life will be a bit calmer and I will have more time for other things, like blogland!

There will be at least 3 more posts before we leave on Saturday. Remember when I got my Roomba? Well now I have yet another reason to love CafeMom.com. I was chosen to be a CafeMom Influencer for JCPenney Children, which means they are sending me a $100 JCPenney Gift card to buy clothes for the girls and asking me to write honestly about it. I love the influencer program, and they really do want your honest opinions about the products and the shopping experience. It’s great to get the low-down from other moms about various products and services, and I have found some new places to shop and even some places not to shop because of what I have learned from other moms there. That’s how I learned about Shutterfly.com, and I am in love with them now, too!

Anyhow,
