Staining the Deck

This summer we had to re-stain the deck, so we decided to try Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck stain. The results are beautiful.

Staining the Deck with Sherwin-William SuperDeck

The product reviewed in this post was provided in part by Sherwin-Williams. All opinions are my own.

Staining the deck - ready to stain

You can find Shewin-Williams SuperDeck online HERE, but we went into our local store to check out all the options. There were many shades to choose from; we went with a deep reddish brown. We also had to choose which type of stain to use, and we choose the waterborn semi-transparent. There was a great pamphlet at the store that explained all the differences in the stains and we weighed them out and chose what we thought worked best for our purposes.

All the supplies needed for our project were in the store, and the employees were very knowledgeable. The stain was easy to apply. It went on smoothly and left a nice, even coat. There were no streaks or spots.

Staining the Deck - so many types of stain

it rained a few days after the deck was stained and all the water beaded up. We are very happy with the results of this stain and our wonderful deck that we worked so hard to build looks amazing and is well protected.

Staining the Deck - Look at all the colors!

I would highly recommend Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck to anyone in need of a deck stain. Check the different types and find the one that works best for your needs. You are sure to find a color you love as well. It has only been a few weeks since the deck was stained, so I can’t speak to the longevity of it yet, but based on other reviews and the strong reputation of Sherwin-Williams products, I am confident this stain will protect my deck in the long run as well.

Are you looking for crochet patterns to make while traveling? I travel a lot, and one thing I’ve learned is it’s always nice to have a project ready to take with me. I’ve put together a collection of 7 free crochet patterns to make while traveling that I think are great to take on the go. You usually want something smallish (blankets aren’t the best traveling project.) I also suggest a pattern that is easy to memorize so you don’t have to keep looking at the pattern, but if you don’t get motion sick, or if you are going to have time in a hotel, then a pattern you need to refer to can be good as well.  So enjoy your time travelling the crochet way, with one of these On the Go Crochet patterns to make while traveling!

Folding an Origami Cicada the easy way!

These origami cicadas make no sound at all, they just sit quietly and look pretty. With my simple instructions for folding an Origami Cicada the easy way, you can fold your own origami cicada in no time at all. It’s a simple pattern I think looks best with paper that is a different color on each side. My dad who currently lives in Japan says that Japanese children love to catch cicadas and collect their empty shells in the summer. I haven’t seen to many cicadas here in New Jersey lately, so I say, “if you can’t catch them, fold your own!” Let’s relax, have a bit of fun, and start folding an origami cicada the easy way!
