New Schedule

It’s been a few months now that I have been posting with the current schedule, and I have decided it needs some tweaking. I am trying to find a way to make this blog something wonderful for you, without making myself too crazy in the process. So, here is what the current tweak is, let’s see if this one works better! Mondays: CAL/KAL ~ more on this in a bit. Tuesday: Switch off between a Stitchopedia post one week, and … Read more

Fall Cleaning 2014

Some people do spring cleaning. I am more of a fall cleaning kind of girl. Something about fall makes me want to get everything in order. Maybe it’s Doug and the girls all going back to school and me actually having an empty house so I can get more done. Plus, when I am alone I seem to notice the clutter more.

So…I have been trying to get the house in order, and find a routine that works. I am enjoying the TV/laptop free afternoons from when the girls get home until after dinner. I am able to go through the mail and school papers while they do homework, and still help them when they need it. I have been doing better about staying on top of the laundry, and the house is slowly getting more presentable.

I am also going through my computer files and cleaning up. I have lots of partial patterns to finish up. My friend Kim was recently saying how de~cluttering helps her mood, and I have to agree. I need to de~clutter!

Remember when I got some pretty new yarn from Lion Brand in the mail?

Back on Track

I am feeling a lot better, thank you for all the well wishes here and on Facebook! I’m not back to my full self yet, but I will be soon, and I am finally at the point where I can be productive. Plus, typing doesn’t hurt anymore! Sometimes something hits me all at once, and really hard, and my immune system attacks and drains all my energy to fight! It’s great having an immune system that takes no prisoners, but when it goes into full on attack mode, there is very little I can do other than sleep. Any energy I can muster is usually stored up to take a shower. So, I was knocked out for the weekend, but about half way through yesterday I started to feel like one of the living again.

Anyway, I have put together a few snaps from the past week to share.

Doug’s school was off for the Jewish holiday on Thursday (Happy New Year to my Jewish readers! May it bring you joy and love!). He told me on Tuesday. Shortly after telling me, he emerged from the kitchen, “The washer is broken.”

Making Yarn.

Last year I made a bunch of Eli hats with Carisma Loops and Thread yarn. I was organizing all my yarn that was still in boxes, and I found a bunch of little balls of the leftovers. So, I made yarn!! I cut the yarn balls into 2 to 4 yard long pieces, and then tied them back together, mixing up the colors and the sizes. I wound it onto the swift as I tied it together, then wound it into … Read more

Swing, Swing, Swing

I am working on getting into the new swing of things around here. I have been much more busy, but very happy. It is a lot of fun working with yarn companies and publications! After taking the littles to school, I spend the school day in the basement, working on patterns and samples, and paperwork. OK, the paperwork is not tons of fun, but the rest is! Usually about twice a week I do have to go our for errands, such … Read more

Basement Organizing & Yarn Stash

I spent most of the day in the basement doing some cleaning and organizing. My cutting table was covered with varoius…stuff, and there was a stack of bins and crates 8 feet long and 3 feet tall next to the sofa. I have been looking for the same skein of yarn for weeks now and I finally couldn’t take it anymore. I knew it was in one of those bins! The first thing I did was pull out some of … Read more

This will be mostly photos tonight. It is after 1am (hey, happy 8th anniversary to Doug & me!) I just want to show you what I have been up to lately.

The other side!

Finally!!! I have finished the big commitment that has been holding me back from my patterns and my blog. I had taken a job as a contract crocheter / knitter. Unfortunately  the pay was abysmal. I guess it is the nature of the beast. Some designers pay a percentage of what they are getting paid by the publishing company, and some pay by the yard, but either way, it is not good when you divide your pay by the hours your worked. … Read more
