Stitch ‘N’ Pitch

Hello there! A few weekends ago I attended the 2015 Stitch ‘N’ Pitch at a NY Mets game. The Stitch ‘N’ Pitch is an event that happens at various pro baseball games around the country in association with TNNA (The National Needlearts Association). The Stitch ‘N’ Pitch that I attended was also sponsored by Lion Brand Yarn. They gave all the attendees a goodie bag with some yarn so that everyone could make some afghan squares for Warm Up America, a wonderful organization that makes and collects hand made blankets for those in need.

It was tons of fun! I went with Amy of Stitchin’ Mommy. We met there, as she lives in Queens, and I live in NJ. I miss living in Queens, it was so much easier to go play in Manhattan, and to go to fun events without having to drive and park.

Anyway, I drove to the game. The bus from here only runs every 2 hours on the weekend, and would require a transfer to the subway as well. By the time all the tickets are purchased, it is pretty much the same cost as tolls and parking, so I decided I would rather drive. Public transit is not as affordable or convenient coming from NJ. I got in at noon for a 1:10 game, and I still ended up parking pretty far away. I snapped a photo of where I was parked so I would be able to find Thor again after the game.

Once I got to the gate, I met up with Amy and we went in. As we arrived, we stumbled upon

Busy, busy, busy

Hello friends! I feel like we haven’t chatted in a long time. I’ve posted patterns and product reviews and round ups and such, but no chatting. Things have been very busy for me lately. We left on June 30th to go visit my parents in Sicily, and we just got back late on July 15th. It was a lot of fun, but I got rather behind in my schedule. So I have been working hard to catch up. The rest … Read more

Love Wins

Over the past year or so I have done my best to keep politics off my blog. Today, I am so happy that I have to break that rule. Though honestly, I don’t see it as politics as much as I see it as celebrating the fact that EVERY American now has the right to LOVE.

Today is a day I will never forget. I just had a conversation with my daughters explaining why today is so important. They were so happy to know that every person in the USA now has the right to marry the person they love, and to have all the rights that come with that marriage. I did my best to explain some of those rights in terms that almost~8~year~olds could understand. Things like hospital visitation/medical decisions and family healthcare.

Today, everything else seems so small and insignificant. Today is a celebration of love. Today is beautiful. Today is important. Today, love wins.

I want to share my brother’s Facebook status with you, because I love what he said. He is awesome! You can check him out here.

Camporee !!

This weekend was the Girl Scout Camporee for our Service Unit. The girls had a blast. I could go on for quite some time about it, but in an attempt to not write the longest post in blogging history, I will just share some snaps and tell you a bit about each. Please pardon some of the fuzzy photos. I was too paranoid to bring my good camera, so all these snaps were taken with my phone.

TNNA 2015 Awesomeness

Hello!!! I have so much to share with you today. Before I go on (and on) (and on) about the TNNA summer needlearts trade show, I have a little business to tell you.

Summer schedule: This is going to be a crazy summer for my family and I. We have so many plans! I will not neglect you, I will still post at least 5 times a week. Considering all I want to share with you this summer, it may be more than that!! However, there will be some changes to what is posted when.
Thursdays will still be patterns ~ knit patterns on the first Thursday of the month, and crochet patterns on the remaining Thursdays.
Sundays will still be link blast on social media from 8 to 9 pm eastern time, with a compilation of the links posted here just after 9.
Wednesdays will still be pattern round ups, however, starting in a couple weeks they will each feature a specific designer. Sometimes they will include a coupon code and/or a giveaway for one or more pattern by the designer. They will not all be free patterns. Most of the designers I will be featuring have at least a few free patterns, and as long as they do, I will share some of the free patterns along with some sale patterns. I am REALLY excited about introducing you to other designers.
The rest of the week will be a variety of posts. Most will be yarn related, with some posts about my crazy summer adventures tossed in. There will be giveaways! Lots of giveaways! Some will be patterns from the designers I feature, but there will also be yarn and yarn related products. This summer is going to be a blast, and the fun is going to continue into the fall.

So, almost 2 weeks ago now, I went off to the Summer 2015 TNNA Needlearts Trade Show

Off-to-muffins-for-moms

Tow hitch

This morning was muffins for moms at the school. From 8:15 to 8:45 the K-3 children and their moms are invited into the cafeteria for muffins, bagels, fruit, juice, and coffee. I wasn’t feeling great this morning when I woke up, so I decided to drive; normally we walk when it’s not too cold or raining out. The girls and I remembered to snap a picture on the way out the door. It’s not the greatest picture, like I said, I wasn’t feeling well.

My neighbor Claudine also drove with her kids. About a block from the school, my car rolled out in front of her and stopped in the intersection. At first she thought that I saw her and had stopped to wave, but that seemed odd. Then she noticed no one was driving. She got out to see what was going on, and 2 other mothers were out there. One told her she was parking behind my car and her car wouldn’t stop and she hit mine.

New~To~Me Camera!

I have a new~to~me camera!!! It is a gently used Nikon CoolPix P510 that I bought from my awesome friend (and crochet mom) Kim. It arrived on Friday and I immediately ran around the house snapping pictures of EVERYTHING! I’m having way too much fun, and I haven’t even gotten to reading the manual yet. Imagine the fun that will happen then!!

Yarnie friends: you will want to read this post all the way to the end, as there is a surprise for you at the bottom!!

So, here are some of the camera test photos, along with a little about our weekend.

Testing-the-new-camera-2015

As I said, I started out by running around the house snapping pictures of everything. Mostly I took pictures that I knew would have not worked so well in the past, just to see how the new camera could handle a challenge.

Spring Breaks 2015 – more then one and lots of fun

That’s right. Spring breakS. Pural. Last week the girls were on spring break, and the week before it was Doug. It’s such a bummer that they do not have the same spring break. But we make the most of it. Doug took 3 days during his spring break off of his second job (tutor for Huntington Learning Center) so he would have more time with the girls. They loved when he would pick them up from school and then be home the rest of the day.
