I love those big infinity scarves with solid sections and open sections. Chained to Infinity is my version of one of those fun scarves. It has alternating angled single crochet sections and chain sections. I made my sample in a color that is similar to Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year: Marsala.

Getting Started:
At the end of every round, the stitch count is listed in between {brackets}, this will help you determine if you have worked the round correctly.

For the first few rounds you will want to be very careful that you do not twist your scarf, it is quite easy to accidentally add a twist at first, but after a few rounds it stays in place better.

If your finished piece is curling a bit (mine was) you may need to block it.

Pattern:

Round 1: Ch 30, place a marker, (ch 40, place a marker, ch 30, place a marker) 2 times, ch 41, turn, sc in second ch from hook and in each remaining ch to marker (this will make 40 sc), * ch 30, sc in next marked st and in each remaining ch to marker (this will make 40 sc), repeat from * once more, ch 30, sl st to top of first sc made to join round, being careful not to twist. The first 3o ch made will be left hanging free, don’t worry, you will work it in later. {3 sets of 40 sc and 30 chains}

Round 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a st) sc in next sc and in each remaining 38 sc, sc in next ch, * ch 30, skip next 29 ch, skip next sc, sc in next sc and in each remaining 38 sc, sc in next ch, repeat from * once more, ch 30,sl st to top of first sc. {3 sets of 40 sc and 30 chains}

Repeat round 2: To desired width. For the sample pictured, I just kept working until I had used up 2 skeins of my yarn.

Use the tail from the start of round 1 to join the first chain made in round 1 to the bottom of the first sc made in round 1. Weave in all your ends.

  1. I’d love to see a video, if you have it, for this scarf. I am new to crocheting and need a bit of clarification. I’m so excited to finish with it. Love the design!
