We have had a very busy couple of weeks. There have been a lot of activities with the school and the Girl Scouts. Plus playing. Lots of playing. And school for the girls and working for me. It’s been a blur. But I did manage to get some snaps along the way, so here are a few.
The girls are very much in love with the Lite~Brite. They really like making their own designs. This is a picture of Daddy, made by Kyla. Every time I see it, I think of this picture from 5 years ago!
The girls have been having a blast playing in the backyard, now that the weather makes that an option. Last week they made a flower hula hoop with the magnolias that are always falling off our tree.
Last weekend there was a town wide clean up as part of the Earth Day celebrations in our town. Our 2nd grade Brownie troop signed up with the 2nd grade Cub Scout troop from our school to clean up Booth Park, one of the MANY parks in our town. Did you know that every residence in our town is no more than 1/2 mile from a park or playground? One of the main reasons we moved here is the focus on family, and the small town community feel, even though we are not that small.
We broke into several groups and picked up sticks, twigs, and trash. The Parks and Rec department gave us all the supplies we needed, including a first aid kit! They even made a bed around the park sign and left us flowers to plant and mulch for the flower bed and around the trees. The girls found a few tree dedication plaques and decided those should be cleaned as well.
About half way through the clean up, the Parks and Rec Commissioner came by for a photo op. 😉
We sure cleaned up a LOT!! The flower bed around the sign ended up pretty nice. Sure, you can tell it was planted by 7 and 8 year olds, but that is part of it’s charm!
Once the clean up was done, it was time for the playground quality control check.
On Wednesday evening, the 1st and 2nd grade had a spring concert. The girls felt the need to each dress in a single color. Aren’t they adorable!!
I managed to get a snap of each of the girls as they walked up to the stage, but they were very fuzzy. This is what happens when your smart phone is your camera. Which reminds me, I have fun news to tell you on Tuesday!!
I have explained to the girls that it is much easier to comb their hair in the morning if they sleep with it braided. So now they braid each others hair each night. It’s so darn cute.
On Thursday night, the Girl Scouts had a Luau themed sweetheart dance. Doug and the girls had a great time. I managed to get before and after pictures for you.
Well, back to my weekend. Doug and the girls found some Razor scooters at a garage sale for $3 each this morning, and they are outside playing with them. I think I will get the band aids ready.
