This tutorial will show you how to make both the left leaning and right leaning crossed double crochet. There is a video showing the stitch, written instructions with process photos, and a chart and pattern for a practice piece.

Here is a video to show both the left and right leaning crossed doubles:

Written instructions with photos:

Abbreviations:
dc ~ double crochet
lxdc ~ left leaning crossed double crochet
rxdc ~ right leaning crossed double crochet
st(s) ~ stitch(es)

Left leaning crossed double:
Skip 1 stitch, dc in next st, dc in skipped st working in front of the previous st (it helps to push the previous st to the back of your work in order to place this st in front of it).

Right leaning crossed double:
Skip 1 stitch, dc in next st, dc in skipped st working behind the previous st (it helps to push the previous st to the front of your work in order to place this st behind it).

Practice piece:
Row 1:
Ch 17, dc in 4th ch from hook and in each remaining st
Row 2, 4: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in next st, (lxdc over next 2 sts, dc in next st) 4 times, dc in last st
Row 3 ~ 9 odd: Ch 3, dc in each st across
Row 6, 8: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in next st, (rxdc over next 2 sts, dc in next st) 4 times, dc in last st

And here is a chart as well:
