Origami Basket With Handle – a lovely way to hold your special items!

The origami basket with handle is such a pretty and useful creation. You can make it in a variety of sizes for so many uses. I think it makes a really cute way to put out candy or even to hold some rings. You can also use it as a gift basket as long as you have large sturdy paper and a light enough gift. There are just so many ideas!

The origami basket with handle will show both sides of your paper, so paper that is different on both sides works well. Be sure to crease well after each fold.

Start your origami basket with handle with a square base (find the instructions for the square base HERE). The wrong side of the paper should be showing and the open side should be at the top.

Fold the top flap down along center, crease, then unfold.

Fold the point of the top down to the center and crease, then fold down again at center line.

Turn piece over and repeat last 2 sets of instructions.

Fold the top right flap over to the left.

Turn piece over and repeat last set of instructions.

Fold both top sides in to the center line, then unfold.

Fold both side corners in to creases just made.

Re-fold both top sides in to the center line.

Turn piece over and repeat the last 3 sets of instructions.

Open up both sides of piece to begun to open basket.

Carefully push bottom point up while continuing to open basket to make the base.

Add a small glue dot or dab of glue to the top of one point and glue it to the top of the other point to make the handle.
