Mariposa was given its name by some of the amazing artists in my local knit and crochet group because they said the shawl looks like a butterfly. I really enjoyed creating Mariposa, it’s an easy and fun pattern to make and the yarn is a joy to work with. Nurturing Fibres Eco-Fusion yarn is made in South Africa, and the American distributor, Good Loops Yarn, has given me a discount code for all of you!

Family Bonds are amazing. Nearly two years ago some dear friends of mine grew their family by bringing an amazing baby girl home from the hospital and becoming her foster parents. A couple week ago they were finally able to adopt her. Facebook immediately blew up with pictures and stories of their loving family. So today I thought I would celebrate a bit more by sharing some free crochet patterns that show off family bonds.

Vintage style crochet patterns just make me happy. I designed this Dancing Mushroom chart years ago, and I finally found the perfect yarn to turn it into a sweet little blanket. The center image panel is surrounded by a thick border in several different stitch patterns which add to the style of this family heirloom to-be.
