Pretties in the works

One of the hardest things about selling designs is having to sit on things. Any design that I may want to sell to a yarn company, magazine, or some other website/company/what~have~you, I have to keep quite. No one will buy it if I have posted photos of it, and once I sell it, I can’t share until it is published. Obviously I can’t share the pattern at that point, but I can share where you can get the pattern, and photos of what I have made.

Anyway, this means I have to keep a lot of secrets. This week I have made some decisions on some of my patterns in the works, so those set for this blog, or for me to sell on my own can now be shared!

I have always know that the Katherine coat will be one I sell myself, and that will still be a few months off, though the testers are making some real beauties! I did make a new set of video tutorials for joining vertical stripes as you knit them. I still need to get them up in the tips and tricks section. The videos will be free for all, as they are not the pattern, just a technique used in the pattern.

Many moons ago I came up with this little swatch. It is based on fans, and has been waiting to be transformed into something fun.

After starting and frogging (several times) a shawl using this pattern as the basis, I finally think I have a great idea. Here is the beginning of my “I Love Fans” knit shawl. The fourth beginning. I will take photos each time I place a lifeline so you can see the journey. I think when it is done I will make a crochet version as well.

I will be posting a crochet hat and scarf set over the next week or two. They are a pair, but I will post the hat and the scarf separately. Then I REALLY need to stop with the winter stuff and move onto some more spring/summer patterns.

The Raised Stripes hat and scarf set will feature raised vertical stripes, and colored horizontal stripes. I will have my wonderful testers use various stripe patterns to give you lots of ideas!

I LOVE the brim on this hat. You can leave it down to be toasty warm, fold it up for a shorter hat, or just fold the front up for a fun look that still keeps your ears warm.

I also did some cleaning in my basement work room. I finally got my Berocco stash all organized. This is JUST the Berocco yarn, no other brands. And there are 2 wips I have in project bags that are not shown here.

Over the weekend we had some company. On Saturday my friend Marsha came over. We put out lots of fun foods to pick at all day.

Vada made a very tall Ritz and Almond Cocoa spread layered sandwich. She was quite pleased with herself.

Whew, this is going to be hard.

It was very yummy.

Marsha brought peanut butter covered chocolate chip cookie brownies.

Later we had Japanese ice cream ~ you know the kind wrapped in rice dough. Mmm. Green tea flavored. My favorite. I think I could live on this stuff.

I have lots more to make. I will keep sharing what I can. Hopefully some of the designs I have sold will  be available soon, and I will share those as well!
