Inside: The Prince Wrap is a small unisex knit shawl made of garter stitch and eyelets. It’s quick and easy, yet lovely to look at.
The yarn for this design was provided by King Cole. All opinions are my own.
This pattern was originally published on 10/7/2016. The most recent update was made on 12/4/2022.
The eyelet mesh sections bring interest into the wrap, while still keeping its unisex appeal. Made with one skein of King Cole Drifter, it’s a smallish neckerchief, however, if you want to make it larger, just check out the Getting Started section.

- Read through all instructions before beginning
- Row counts are at the end of each Row after the period, if the count has changed from the previous Row. {count here}
- To make the Prince Wrap larger, repeat Rows 101-200 as many times as desired after finishing row 200 the first time. Then continue with Row 201.
Small Unisex Knit Shawl Pattern
CO 3
Row 1: K all
Row 2: Kfb, k to end. {4 sts}
Rows 3-100: Repeat Rows 1&2 fourty-nine times. {52 sts at end of Row 100}
Row 101: K all.
Row 102: Kfb, *k2tog, yo; repeat from * until 1 or 2 sts remain, k to end. {53 sts}
Rows 103-150: Repeat Rows 101&102 twenty-four times. {77 sts at end of Row 150}
Row 151: K all.
Row 152: Kfb, k to end. {78 sts}
Rows 153-200: Repeat Rows 151&152 twenty-four times. {102 sts at end of Row 200}
Row 201: K all.
Row 202: Kfb, *k2tog, yo; repeat from * until 1 or 2 sts remain, k to end. {103 sts}
Rows 203-212: Repeat Rows 201&202 five times. {108 sts at end of Row 212}
Row 213: K all.
Row 214: Kfb, k to end. {109 sts}
Rows 215-220: Repeat Rows 213&214 three times. {112 sts at end of Row 220}
Finishing
- Bind off all sts then weave in ends.

FAQs
That’s normal. The pulling will go away when you block the finished piece. Lace often needs blocking to lay correctly.
You can go up a needle size or two to loosen your gauge. Either do that for the whole wrap, or make the lace/mesh section using needles one size larger than the rest.
Like many of my shawl or wrap patterns, you simply continue the repeats. For this repeat rows 201 & 202 until the mesh is as wide as you want, the rows 213 & 214 until the garter stitch section is as wide as you want. Keep doing that until you have the size you want.

Is there a mistake in these instructions:
Rows 150-198 ends (102 stitches at end of row 198)
Rows 214-220 ends (102 stitches at end of row 198)
This look like such beautiful yarn, I hope to use it, but I eant to be sure about the instructions before I start the project.
Is it possible to make the shawl larger?
I just forgot to change the stitch count at the end, but the pattern itself is correct. You can just keep going if you want to make the shawl larger.
I agree, the instructions are wrong. I’m currently on 200-219. I assumed this was the last part but it’s getting longer and longer and looks NOTHING like the photos, it’s not even triangular at all. 214-219 doesn’t finish it, there are no instructions to finish. No k2tog, no ssk. I’m so disappointed and now stuck
It’s not going to look right until it’s blocked, as the lace pulls before it’s blocked. I promise, this is how the sample was made. I added in the bind off at the end, sorry I missed that.
Only four more rows to go before I start on the second lave panel. It is looking good, and it is the correct shape, though will obviously benefit from being blocked when it is finished. I will probably make it a wee bit larger as I will carry on to roughly the end of the ball. I used Colorado for this one, but have bought a different double knitting yarn to make a second wrap.
