Softee Baby Yarn Review

The yarn used for this review was provided by Yarnspirations. All opinions are my own. Thank you.

Softee Baby yarn by Bernat has been one of my go-to yarns for quite a while now. I discovered how much I liked it when the girls were toddlers and I needed a yarn that was washable and not too thick. Softee Baby is 100 acrylic, and is a DK weight. It is also super soft!

I love all the colors of you can find it in. I especially love that there are solids that match the variegateds so you can coordinate things that way! There are just so many color options, it’s great.

As for the washability, it really is machine wash and dry! There is no pilling, no fading, no looking like you washed it wrong. This post is full of pictures linked to patterns I have made with Softee Baby, and the samples have all lasted through many washes until they just didn’t fit the girls anymore. Then they were still in good enough shape to be handed down!

The DK weight makes them great for baby or child clothing, as it is light enough that the clothing isn’t chunky, but no so light that it takes forever to make something that will only be worn for a few months to a few years.

As you can probably tell, I am quite the fan of Softee Baby. You can pick some up for yourself at most large craft stores. You can find it on the Yarnspirations site HERE, or on Amazon HERE (just be aware there are different weights, so make sure you grab the right one!)

If you’ve enjoyed the patterns I have shared in this post, then you’ll be glad to know there is another coming on Thursday! The Rippled Skirt also features Bernat Softee Baby yarn!! Here is a sneak peek!

  1. I love the soft yarn & all the beautiful colors. Unfortunately I lost all my yarn in my last move but I’m working hard to get more. Thank You for this site.

  2. I live in a rural community so order a lot of my yarn online.
It is difficult to tell which solids go with which variegated yarns in the Softee Baby yarn.
Is there any place that tells which are meant to go together?
    Thanks.

    • I’m not sure, you may want to contact the yarn company. They usually have a “contact us” section either at the top of the page or at the very bottom.
