Sometimes you need to crochet a flat circle. It is a good basic skill to know, so I am sharing a how-to with you. Here you will find written instructions with process photos to help, charts, and videos, showing how to crochet a flat circle in single, half double, and double crochet.

Here we go!
For the samples seen here, I used Peaches and Cream yarn, and an 8/H/5mm hook. However, this is really a tutorial showing you how to make flat circles, you can use nearly any yarn and a hook that works with your yarn.

Brilliant! Thank you! I watched your (very easy to follow) video, and I fully understood where you were coming from by round 6… My circle, although in half doubles, is flat as a pancake! Result! Happy days! x
Thank you for the flat circle pattern. It’s easy and actually is flat. thanks
Help! I’m following your directions for the double chain flat circle bot past the 4 the row or starts to ruffle. What am I doing wrong?
Join the facebook group I have listed at the bottom of my patterns and post a photo along with a description of what you are doing. I can’t guess what you are doing wrong, so the best thing to do is give more info in the group, including a picture.
Thanks so much for sharing these patterns. They will be the basis of so many items I love to make. Such an easy reference you have provided us… Thanks for sharing.
In the single crochet circle pattern text, Round 9 shows a total stitch count of 42 — I counted 60 stitches in the diagram.
The text now says 54, which is correct. The chart is missing row 1, so what you are seeing as row 9 is actually row 10.
Thanks for the tutorial, it was exactly what I needed & I used it today – & thanks for the correction 🙂
You’re welcome! 🙂
U R Awesome! After watching several videos and reading several sets of written. instructions I was ready to give up when I stumbled across your clear and easy site! Thank you! Thank you!
I’m so happy I was able to help!! 🙂
I want to know why you change the increase point in each round in dc increasing I mean is it wrong if I increase in all rounds using the first .
It’s not wrong to do it the other way, I changed the points every other round to disperse them more so they won’t make points as quickly.
A very big and warm thank you for your fabulous tutorial! I now understand perfectly how to do increases thanks to your clear instructions.
I so appreciate your time and expertise!
This is a great tutorial, thanks! The pattern I’m using just doesn’t make sense so I’m using yours as a starting point. In HDC how would I increase from 48 stitches to 52.
You have to increase 14 times over 48 sts. That’s one increase every 3 sts 4 times and every 4 sts 10 times. The math doesn’t work out pretty, but it works.
At that rate wouldn’t I end up with 62 stitches instead of 52?
Yes! You would. I had a bad math moment. I feel silly. You only need to increase 4 sts. So (hdc in next 11 sts, 2 hdc in next st) 4 times.
Hello ! Thank you for your pattern. It is worked for me 🙂
Hi! Great site! I love crochet diagram charts because they’re so easy to follow–and yours look great. May I ask what program you use? I want to create my own snowflake patterns. Thx!
They program wasn’t maintained so it doesn’t work anymore. Now I pay my tech editors to make them.
Thank you for this pattern, I really enjoyed learning how to do the flat circle. The pattern I am working on is a 8 Star Circle, and joining new colors in every round to the slip stitch. I am getting holes at theater joining stitch. Is there a better way?
Pull both yarn tails really tight when you weave the ends in, and weave them in so they cover any holes you have. This should help.
Hi
Just wanted to know if I can use your circle chart for my new utube channel I will reference you and put in a link to your website. Please reply thanks. It will be a postive reference and how it helped me.
You can not republish or show a video of the chart, however, you can share the link to the post so people can go to the post and see the chart themselves. That way I still get traffic to my site and still get paid from my advertisers. Thank you.
Thanks
