Spray chalk, paint and canvases, birthday cake, and a nice day, what more could you ask for when cerebrating your 12th birthday?! The twins had a great birthday party last month and everyone who came had a blast painting canvases and painting the yard, the house, and the garage with Testor’s spray chalk.

This is really more of a free form CAL/KAL. I have put together a list of crochet patterns and knit patterns of mine that work for a picnic, barbeque, backyard party, whatever you want to call it, you can find picture links to the patterns at the bottom of this post. Some of the patterns are already in patriotic colors, some just need a color change to work. Of course, you can make any of these patterns in any colors, so if you are from a country with different colors, you can still make them your own, or if you just want everyday outdoor party goods, you can make them in whatever colors you like!
Each Monday I will publish a blog post here with either a link to a new patriotic party pattern, or an update to an old one that didn’t use red white and blue the first time around. I will also be sharing photos (with permission) that have been shared in the CAL/KAL group. As I add more patterns, I will update the links at the bottom of this post, so you can always come back here for the most up to date list of patterns.

As I am sitting here in Thor, waiting to check into Pennsic, I think I will be productive. You may have noticed I just figured out how to post from my Droid, so I may have many short vacation photos for you throughout the next couple of weeks. As long as I can keep my phone charged, that is.

The girls turned 5 last Friday.
Every other month I receive my issue of Creative Home Arts magazine, full of fun crafty ideas. Lots o’ the ideas within come from the readers. Every issue they announce a contest with prizes ranging from $25 to $750. They also show the winners from 2 issues prior. With this issue there was a last call for a card making contest, and the announcement of a needle arts contest. You can use something you already made; it does not have to be made just for the contest. To enter you just send in photos of the craft, and a short description. So I decided to enter both. Doug and I had a Super Bowl Party today; in New Jersey; with Doug’s Jersey Friends. I knew I would be the only Patriots fan.
