This past January I had the pleasure of meeting Retomantic Fripperies at the winter TNNA trade show. I was immediately enamored! The vintage charm in everything they do is just lovely!

Flight Hat – Free Crochet Pattern
The Flight Hat got its name because it reminds me of the early woman in aviation. I’m not really sure why, it just does.
Wednesday Round Up 11/26/2014 ~ Retro Hats
There is something about a retro or vintage look hat that I just love! They are full of such glamour and fun, all at the same time. I feel so much cooler (hipper? groovier?) whenever I wear one. Here is a collection of retro hats so you can be a cool cat, too! I think they are all pretty nifty.
Here are the names and links of each pattern, along with a little something that each designer has to say about them.
It Girl Crochet by Sharon Zientara ~ Book Review
It Girl Crochet is full of my kind of patterns!! Sharon Zientara has compiled a collection of wonderfully unique patterns that are both modern and vintage at the same time. As a designer, there are times that I look at a pattern and think “Man! I wish I came up with that design myself!!” While looking through this book, I found myself thinking that multiple times.
The book is divided into 3 sections: Crochet Nouveau, It’s a Mod, Mod World, and A Brave New Boho. Seen on the cover, the Psychedelia Mitts, designed by Brenda K. B. Anderson are part of the It’s a Mod, Mod World section. Not only is the look of these mitts unique, but so is the construction. They are worked as a flat oval, which is worked in the round, and then stitched together to become mitts. If you know my designs, you know I love different ways of constructing items, so I am quite taken with this pattern!
The Crochet Nouveau section is full of patterns inspired by the art nouveau period.
First Floor
I have snaps of the first floor to share with all of you. Let me start by reminding you we are still moving in. As a matter of fact, as I type this Doug is making the last few runs from the apartment to the house to get the last of our stuff. I still have to go back to the apartment and clean the heck out of it. Fun.
Anyway, we are still moving. There are boxes everywhere, accompanied by piles of “stuff” that needs to find homes. It’s a wreck. But you’ll just have to deal with the wreck if you want to see the pictures.
Also, we have a next~year~or~two plan of things that need to happen as soon as we have the money to do them (we really don’t want to charge anything,) and a 5~to~8~year~plan of things we want to have done to get the house to our dream home. I will share some of our ideas for the first plan, the second one will only cement your suspicions that I am completely off my rocker.
Ready?
Here we go.

I love it when Vada does her own hair. She’s so proud of her creation! So darn cute! Kyla was a little sick this week. We had a pajama cuddle day on Wednesday. She was very cuddly and very sad that her tummy wasn’t happy. Vada once again entertained us with her self~styled hair. She even got the back this time. I found this beauty at a consignment shop by InsaniTea. (I talked her down to $40 as it had … Read more
