Finally!!! I have finished the big commitment that has been holding me back from my patterns and my blog. I had taken a job as a contract crocheter / knitter. Unfortunately  the pay was abysmal. I guess it is the nature of the beast. Some designers pay a percentage of what they are getting paid by the publishing company, and some pay by the yard, but either way, it is not good when you divide your pay by the hours your worked. Not good at all. So this morning I sent out the last contract I had, and I will not be taking any more! Yea!!!

You may think this is irresponsible, due to our financial situation, but I don’t. You see, through all of this, I have made more money selling my patterns that I have published independently on Ravelry, Craftsy, and Etsy, then on the contracts. Yet I have not been able to work much on my new patterns because I have been so busy with the contracts. So now I am free to focus on my own patterns! I have made a group on Facebook to run the tests for my patterns. If you can knit or crochet, meet a deadline (I do my best to make sure the deadlines provide enough time even for a full time worker to complete), and can have a good digital camera and someone who can snap a decent photo, and you would like to be one of my testers, then join my group!

In addition to being able to focus on my own designs, I am hoping to get back into posting regularly here on my blog. I have been taking some classes over on Craftsy, and I will write up reviews for you on those as well! Right now they are having a sale on classes for Mother’s day, so head on over and take a look!!

Last weekend, Doug stopped at a garage sale and found 2 mugs for the girls. They absolutely loved them!

I thought tea was in order to break in the new mugs.

We have been picking the many flowers that grow around the house. Our dining room is always so pretty with the flowers.

Red-Velvet-cupcakes-in-ConesPin

We did a bit of baking as well last weekend. I had found ice cream cones for under $2 for 24 at ALDI. So we baked up some red velvet cupcakes in them. Then we frosted them and topped them with a few chocolate chips. They were very yummy, but I would recommend eating them within the first 24 hours or so, as the cones loose their crisp after a while. I think I will just do this for parties from now on, as opposed to having them as a goodie at home. It did take us a few days to eat them, and the cones were quite soft by the end.

I did give a few away to a neighbor, as 24 just seemed like way to many to have at home! I had a foil pan, so I wrapped it in tissue paper, and used a bit more tissue paper to keep the cones upright. I covered them with a foil tent, and gave them away!

cuddle-time!Pin

Sometime the girls can be so sweet. They both wanted to dress pretty for school the other day. I caught them cuddling in the afternoon. Really, Vada was happy about it, it just seems that every time I clicked the camera, she had a bored/annoyed look on her face.

There, see, happy!

Animal-adoption-train-townPin

One day last week they had asked to watch TV, and I told them to use their imagination instead. Out came the train set from Santa. They build a little village. Vada drove little people on the train over to Kyla’s village and adopted some pets. The conversation going on between the little wooden folks was so darn cute!

I had to go to school 3 times on Thursday and Friday. Once for a Mother’s day tea with Vada’s class, once for one with Kyla’s class, and once for one with the whole school (by grade.) The pictures above are from Vada’s class. We sat with Izabel and her mom *surprise.* The last photo is with Vada’s teacher and some of her best friends. I really adore these girls, I know things change as they go through school, and they will not always be in class together, but I really hope she remains close with these three. They are great little girls, and I like their moms a lot as well!

I didn’t remember my camera for the whole school tea, and when I went to Kyla’s I had the camera, but had left the memory card in my laptop. Oops.

Have a great weekend, and happy Mother’s Day to all the mommies out there!!!
