This crochet water bottle sling is super easy and quick to make. Not only that, but it glows in the dark!! This is very important when spelunking through old castles and caves. 😉 The strap is made in such a way that you don’t have to chain a bunch of stitches to start, and you can decide on the length as you go, so it can fit any adventurer, large or small! The water bottle holder section will adjust to various size bottles, and there are suggestions in the pattern for how to adjust the starting size as well.

Pattern Notes

  • Read through all instructions before beginning.
  • Hold both yarns together and use them as one.
  • The stitch count is at the end of each rnd/row after the period, usually only if the count has changed from the previous rnd/row. {count here}
  • Chs and sl sts are not included in stitch counts unless specified.

Rnds 2~10: *Ch 5, sl st in center of next ch-5 sp**, place marker around ch-5 just made repeat from * to ** until sl st is made in same ch-5 sp as marker, remove marker.

Top

Rnd 1: Ch 1, 2 sc in same ch-5 sp as last sl st, 4 sc in each of next 9 ch-5 sps, sl st to top of first sc to join. {38 sc}
Rnds 2&3: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, sl st to top of first sc to join.

Strap

Row 1: Ch 1, sc in each of the next 6 sts. {6 sc}
Row 2: Turn, sc in each st across.
Repeat row 2: Until strap measures desired length when pulled tightly.

Finishing

  • Turn, skip 12 sts around round 3 of top, [sc through next st of top and next st of strap] 6 times, ch 7, cut yarn leaving a long tail, end off.
  • Use end tail to sew end of ch-7 to the start of the finishing row. This will create a small strap to clip items onto.
  • Fasten off then weave in ends.
