This simple little cowl is cozy enough to keep you warm, but small enough to stay out of the way as you layer up for colder weather. Make it today for a quick accessory that will stay with you through the winter.

Size:
23” around, 6” tall

Yarn:
Tahki Yarns: Gemini Color 08: 77gr/76yd (2 skeins)

Needles:
US-19/15.00mm; Use whatever size needles are needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge:
7 sts and 9 rows in a 4” square in stockinette stitch.

Other supplies:
yarn needle

Stitches and Abbreviations:
pco – Provisional Cast On
p – Purl
k – Knit
s – Slip
st(s) – stitch(es)

Getting Started:
This cowl is started with a provisional cast on and grafted into a seamless circle after the last row. If preferred, it can be started with a regular cast on and seamed together at the end.
This pattern can also be used to make a wide scarf, though at least 3 skeins would be required to make it of a decent length.

Pattern:
Pco 16
Row 1: P6, k1, p2, k1, p6
Row 2: S1 knit wise, k5, p1, slip 1 st to cable needle and hold in front of work, k1, k1 from cable needle, p1, k to end
Row 3-9 odd: S1 purl wise, p6, k1, p2, k1, p to end
Row 4: S1 knit wise, k5, p1, slip 1 st to cable needle and hold in front of work, k1, k1 from cable needle, p1, slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold in back of work, k3, k3 from cable needle
Row 6: S1 knit wise, k5, p1, slip 1 st to cable needle and hold in front of work, k1, k1 from cable needle, p1, k to end
Row 8: Slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold in back of work, k3, k3 from cable needle, p1, slip 1 st to cable needle and hold in front of work, k1, k1 from cable needle, p1, k to end
Row 10: S1 knit wise, k5, p1, slip 1 st to cable needle and hold in front of work, k1, k1 from cable needle, p1, k to end.
Repeat rows 3 thru 10, 4 more times
Repeat rows 3 thru 8 once more
Remove chain from pco and place the live stitches on the free needle. If remaining yarn is longer than 4 feet, clip it down to 4 feet. Carefully graft both ends of cowl together using the remaining yarn.

Weave in all ends.
