Scrappy Scoodie ~ Knit Version
Knit Pattern
Intermediate Skill Level
Designed by Jessie Rayot
After making a fun scrappy scoodie in crochet a few weeks ago, I just had to make a knit version. I love all the little ends sticking up everywhere! So find some scrap bulky yarn and start tying. 🙂
Size:
Child large (works for teen or small adult)
Yarn:
Loops and Threads Charisma
Approximately 120 g of tied scrap yarn (see “getting started” section) referred to as “multi~color” in pattern
Approximately 60 g of a solid color yarn
Hook:
US 11/8.00 mm
Gauge:
12 sts by 16 rows in stockinette in a 4″ square
Stitches and Skills used:
CO ~ cast on
K ~ knit
P ~ purl
Getting Started:
I had a lot of small balls of Charisma yarn left over from last year’s Christmas gifts. I cut it into 2~4 yard pieces and tied it back together to make this yarn. You can read more about how I “made” my yarn here.
Charisma Loops and Thread yarn is part of Michaels store brand yarn. If you do not have a local Michaels, you can replace it with another chunky yarn, just be sure to get the correct gauge.
This pattern uses short rows to make the hood. In the pattern I simply tell you how many stitches to knit or purl and to leave the remaining stitches unworked. I have done this so you can follow the pattern as written without using any other short row technique, or you can go ahead and use a technique of your choice. If you want to learn more about short rows, there is a wonderful free class on Craftsy that explains it very well.
