While visiting my parents in Sicily this summer, my father asked me to make a scarf for his best friend’s birthday. We picked out yarn and a stitch pattern, and came up with this handsome scarf. It is quite simple to make, great for a traveling project. I have included a chart along with a written pattern. You can make this scarf with fingering/sock weight yarn, or you can change the starting chain length and use another weight yarn. This is a great unisex pattern to solve many of your gift~giving needs!

The Christina Wrap is a light and lacy wrap I designed and made for my future sister~in~law. I am so excited that she is part of our family, and I wanted to give her something special for her wedding shower. This wrap is a chevron pattern with a row of double crochet chevron followed by a row of a treble crochet and chain chevron. It is made with a fingering weight yarn, but you can make it with any weight, just use a hook a bit larger than usual for the yarn, and know that changing the yarn weight will change the size.

I love the look of the blue triangle and diagonal red and white stripes to represent the flag. It works so well for a placemat, and there is no worry of being disrespectful to the flag this way. I made a similar knit pattern a while back, and had quite a few requests for a crochet version. I had to find just the right stitch for it, and the linen stitch fit the bill. I have also included a chart of a mini version of the pattern which should help out with those of you who are more visual. This pattern is part of the Jessie At Home Patriotic CAL/KAL.

I received quite a few skeins of yarn in various goodie bags at the last Knit & Crochet show I attended. One skein that really caught my eye was JoJoLand Melody Superwash. It was so pretty and squishy and just needed to be worn! At first I planned on a smaller, asymmetrical bandana~type item, but I was so in love that I ordered 2 more skeins and Askew was born.

Askew is an asymmetrical wrap made in a variation of the spider stitch. It increases every other row on one side, and decreases every 4th row on the other, creating a fun wedge shape that makes an appealing wrap or scarf. This pattern includes a written pattern, a video and a chart as well.

Stitchopedia ~ Crochet Spider Stitch from Jessie At Home

I love the Spider Stitch! I have been using it for years, but I only just learned the name. It creates a fabric that drapes nicely, without being open or lacey. Would you like to learn? I have made a video to teach you this simple stitch pattern, and I have also written out instructions for you, and made a chart and pattern for a little practice square. Enjoy! (more…)

In an attempt to stop leaving yarn needles in the arm of the couch, I decide to make some pincushions. This floral pincushion is crocheted with a feltable yarn, and then felted so it can be stuffed tight without the stuffing poking out.
