Size:
Any – 3″ wide by desired length
Yarn:
Red Heart Fashion Soft (DK weight acrylic): Artichoke 4650
Hook:
US-7, 4.5mm – Furls Crochet
Gauge:
17 sts x 9 rows = 4” [10 cm] in dc
Other supplies:
Yarn needle
Stitches and Abbreviations:
ch – chain
bpdc – back post double crochet
dc – double crochet
fpdc – front post double crochet
fptr – front post treble crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
Getting Started:
Left leaning cable across 4 sts: (LC4) Skip 2, fptr around each of next 2 sts, fptr around both skipped sts working in front of previous 2 sts. It may help to think of the stitches numbered right to left as 1, 2, 3, and 4. Fptr around those stitches in this order: 3, 4, 1, 2. CLICK HERE for a tutorial.
Pattern:
Row 1: Ch 20, dc in 4th st from hook (3 skipped chs count as first dc), dc in remaining sts. – {18 dc)
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), fpdc around next 2 sts, bpdc around next 4 sts, lc4 around next 4 sts, bpdc around next 4 sts, fpdc around next 2 sts, hdc in last st.
Row 3: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), bpdc around next 2 sts, fpdc around next 4 sts, bpdc around next 4 sts, fpdc around next 4 sts, bpdc around next 2 sts, hdc in last st.
Repeat rows 2 & 3 until piece fits snugly around wearer’s head – about 20-21″ for an average woman.
Cut yarn leaving a long tail to sew seam. Use tail to sew first and last rows together and weave in all ends.
