Twisted and Twirled Crochet Necklace #1
Intermediate Skill Level
Designed by Jessie Rayot
The first necklace in the Twisted and Twirled Crochet necklace series is made using the spider stitch. It has 3 1/2 twists in it, which makes each round go completely around the border of the necklace, so all the edges look the same. This fun necklace can be worked up in no time with less than 50 yards of fingering weight yarn.
The yarn used in this sample was donated by Dragonfly Fibers for the Marly Bird Designer Dinner at the summer 2015 TNNA Needlearts Trade Show.
This necklace is part of the Twisted and Twirled MCAL (Mystery Crochet ALong).
Dragonfly Fibers, Pixie in Kelpie: 13g/50yds
8 spider sts in 4″
Stitches and Skills used:
ch ~ chain
sl st ~ slip stitch
sc ~ single crochet
st(s) ~ stitch(es)
If the twist between rounds 1 and 2 is done correctly, rounds 3~5 will go completely around the necklace, giving the appearance of adding a round on both the top and the bottom of the necklace.
Round 1: Ch 101, (sc, ch 1, sc) in bottom loop of 2nd ch from hook, *skip 1, (sc, ch 1, sc) in bottom loop of next ch, repeat from * until 1 ch remains.
Twisting Necklace: Fold piece into a loop, being careful not to twist, once lined up, twist end without active loop 3 complete times, plus 1/2 twist more, sl st to bottom of first sc made. See photos below:
Round 2: (Sc, ch 1, sc) in remaining loops of each chain that was worked into in round 1, sl st to top of first sc of round.
Rounds 3~5: (Sc, ch 1, sc) in each ch-1 space around, sl st to top of first sc of round.
Weave in all ends.
Wear or give and enjoy!
