Classic crochet stitches are great to know, and the linen stitch is by far a favorite of mine. It makes such a wonderful fabric and you can do so much with it by playing with color changes. The way I have used it in the October section of the Janet’s Garden CAL, it makes cute little dots!

Stitch counts are at the end of row inside {brackets}. Stitch counts do not include chain stitches unless specified.
Pattern:
Outer Square Continued (All Rounds Right Side)
Rnd 55: Join Color A in any ch-2 corner sp, ch 1, *(sc, ch 1, sc) in ch-2 sp, [ch 1, skip 1 st, sc in next st] across until 1 st remains before next corner ch-sp, ch 1, skip 1 st; repeat from * 3 more times, sl st in top of beginning sc. – {115 sc on each side}
Rnd 56: With Color F, sl st in ch-2 sp, ch 1, *(sc, ch 1, sc) in ch-2 sp, [ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp] across to next corner ch-sp, ch 1; repeat from * 3 more times, sl st in top of beginning sc. – {116 sc on each side}
Rnds 57-59: With Color A, repeat Rnd 56. – {119 sc on each side}
Rnd 60: With Color F, repeat Rnd 56. – {120 sc on each side}
Rnds 61-63: With Color A, repeat Rnd 56. – {123 sc on each side}
Rnd 64: With Color F, repeat Rnd 56. – {124 sc on each side}
Fasten off Color F.
Rnd 65: With Color A, repeat Rnd 56. – {125 sc on each side}
