Just Hanging Around, Part 1

I started a new project on Sunday. Because what I need is a new project. I should be able to finish it tomorrow. In my defense, it is a project that will make an existing project easier.

collecting-partsPin

I started by collecting all the supplies I thought I would need. All stuff found in my garage. OK, the deck posts were laying in the pile of deck wood outside my garage, but the rest was in there.

don't-forget-the-finger-saverPin

I took a scrap of 1×8 and ripped it into square strips on the table saw. This requires a finger saver. Don’t try this without one. Please.

Next I used the radial arm saw to chop off a bit of both ends of both deck post pieces.

sanded-and-readyPin

Then I sanded the crap out of them. This took a while. And about 4 pads for the orbital sander. My hand was still vibrating half an hour later. But aren’t they pretty?

Then I chopped some scrap 2x3s with opposite 45 degree angles on both ends. I cut some of those in half length wise. Again, finger saver.

golf-ball-is-doomedPin

Clamp a golf ball in a vise. This is the fun part.

golf-ball-torturePin

Position the drill and wonder if the previous home owner who lied about O’ so much to sell this dilapidated house is missing his golf balls.

holy-golf-ballPin

Drill hole all the way through, giggling maniacally, and relieving stress.

standing-upPin

Attach angled pieces to posts, wonder if there is a prettier way to do this, and decide it is getting a little to dark to finish. Probably best to finish up on Tuesday (Monday is a little to busy.)

let's-give-it-a-tryPin

So inside I went, to finally get around to making this pie from a mix I had bought a while back.

that's-not-rightPin

While I was rolling out the pie dough, the girls wanted a snack, so I grabbed them some strawberry Nutra Grain bars. Looks like I will be giving Kellogg a call tomorrow. This is how the bar looked when I pulled it out of the package. I’m pretty sure this is not what the store meant when they said the bars were half off.

shoofly-piePin

Here is the pie, all done. Turns out, none of us like shoofly pie. At least not the “from the box” kind. Oh well, it’s not exactly healthy, anyway. Luckily I had made some yummy whole wheat cranberry and white chocolate cookies on Saturday, so all was not lost.

red-and-black-tunisianPin

I did get some yarnie bits done, as well. Here is a peak at my latest endeavor.

funky-red-and-blackPin

I have a knit project I need to finish, but I needed a bit of a break from it for a while, so I worked on a quickie project over the weekend.

colorful-tunisianPin

Pretty colors on this one! I’ll share more about these two little guys with you soon!

Oh, I promise, there was more then stress relief to those golf balls. I hope to finish up the project tomorrow, and I will share the rest of it with you then.
