Not quite what I wanted, but it will work

I started writing a wrap pattern at the beginning of October. It was beautiful in my head. Somewhere in the initial planning/math stages, something went awry. I think I tried to do too much. The pretty little picture was much more simple then what happened as I started writing.

So, in the end, I had something much more in the poncho department, then the wrap department. After the initial, “crap! this is so not what I wanted!” I decided I liked my poncho. So I will be putting the finishing touches on the pattern and start testing it, hopefully by the end of the week. If you want to test this pattern, drop me a note in my testing group on Ravelry, and you will be at the top of the line!

We have been told to stay home as much as possible during the Sandy clean up. At least those of us who still have a home, which, thankfully, is most of us in my town. Most of our damage is downed trees and branches, flying debris, and power issues. I took the time to catch up on house work, including washing a pile of blankets and afghans that sorely needed it. After washing, this old afghan of Doug’s was a little…damaged.

It took a bit of thinking and trial and error, but I was finally able to repair it to the point where you can barely see the fix. My tension was a bit tighter then the original  but I had to be sure I had enough yarn, as matching really old acrylic is kind of hard sometimes!

I did take a trip to the grocery store in the middle of the week for some essentials. The street leading to the store was stop and go. I took a few snaps of the park across the street while waiting. Look at that tree, roots and all.

And another all the way over. Still, we are so much luckier then most around here.

I also took some time to make up some little items for the girls’ school’s Holiday boutique.

They ask that all items sold during the school day are $5 or less, so I’ve been making little button flower accessories.

I’m just about flowered out!

I also started my next pattern. It’s one that has been rolling around in my head for a while.

I am making one for each of the girls for Christmas presents, so I needed to start before it was too late!

I’m really happy with how it is turning out, and can’t wait to start testing. It’s a fairly simple pattern.

I think after I make these for the girls, I need to work on another crochet pattern. Knitting takes too long for me!

Hope you all have a safe and happy week. Remember to be nice to each other tomorrow. We all want what we think is best, even if we don’t agree on what that is!
