The Little Things

I feel the need to celebrate the *good* little things in life right now. Sometimes the *not so good* little things pile up and become overwhelming. When I look at the world through the eyes of my 2 1/2 year old girls, it is a beautiful and happy place. So here are a few of their little things, and a few of mine.

The girls love to play with pillows and cushions. Look at the immense amount of fun they are having with the cushion from the top of the toy box. Sorry about the funky glare in Vada’s eyes, the red eye tool doesn’t get rid of that.

Mmm… my girls just adore brushing their teeth. First Mommy brushes for them, then they get to have a go. Sometimes they even ask to brush at random times during the day.

Today our favorite cashier, Toni, told us a little know secret about the grocery store. If you bring small children over to the floral counter, they will give them free balloons. Oh the joy on the little faces when they each got a BIG balloon of their very own! I’m sure when nap time is over, the balloons will be bouncing about the living room again.

There is something amazing about pre-loved toys. We have a friend with a wonderful daughter, Anna, who loves to give our girls toys she has grown out of. About a year and a half ago, she gave them these two little cuties. The girls fell deeply in love with Lamby and Birthday Bear. We can’t go to the grocery store without them.

These two were also gifts from Anna, and are also favorites. All the brand new toys they get just never compare to the special gifts from Anna.

Here are two of my little things that are making me happy at the moment. Look what I got at the grocery store today! Between a great sale and an equally great coupon, I was able to get these two large bottles of yummy coffee flavoring goodness for just $2.50 for both! I almost never buy this, it just costs too much *usually* and skim milk is much better for me. Sometimes, however, we need the little things.

Even with the Craft Hope Quilt, getting ready for the jolly round guy, and a rather nasty cold/cough the girls and I are tossing around, the Flower Hex Blanket is about half done!!! And I have the beginning of an idea for the other blanket ~ one for each girl. I think this first one is Vada’s, she always wants to cuddle up under it.

So, my lovely friends, take a moment and find the *good* little things. Sometimes it is the key to sanity.
